CeramTec - Aluminum Titanate (Al2TiO5) Components for Industrial Applications
Aluminum Titanate (Al2TiO5) is notable for its excellent thermal shock resistance, allowing it to withstand rapid temperature changes without damage despite its low strength. This property arises from its low thermal expansion and a degree of porosity within its structure. Due to its low wettability with molten metals, Aluminum Titanate is highly suitable for use in foundry technology and metallurgical melting processes. This ceramic material is increasingly significant in automotive and energy sectors, potentially enhancing exhaust gas aftertreatment systems and thermal insulation in fuel cell components. CeramTec produces essential components for metal flow control, including riser tubes for low-pressure die casting, dosing tubes for dosing furnaces, and various elements such as slide plates and closure plates. Additionally, their product range features mould inserts, nozzles, bushes, break rings for continuous casting, and insulating rings.
Non-Oxide Ceramics
ROCAR - Silicon Carbide - Industrial Ceramic Material
ROCAR silicon carbide, developed by CeramTec, is renowned for its exceptional hardness and thermal properties, akin to that of a diamond. This material, the hardest, yet lightest of ceramics, possesses remarkable thermal conductivity, coupled with low thermal expansion, making it an ideal choice for applications within harsh environments. Particularly utilized in forms like sintered silicon carbide (SSiC) and silicon infiltrated silicon carbide (SiSiC), it can withstand temperatures surpassing 1,400°C while maintaining its properties. With a Young's modulus greater than 400 GPa, it ensures significant dimensional stability crucial for constructing durable components. Given its resistance to corrosion, abrasion, and erosion, this material excels in demanding conditions, extending its application to chemical, food, turbine, and heating industries. Additionally, in comparison to metal, ROCAR® silicon carbide offers a cost-effective solution with extended service life, suitable even for 3D printing and ballistic applications.
