Sulphuric Acid’s multiple properties of acidity, reactivity and corrosivity, in addition to its Sulphur content and its affinity for water, make it so highly versatile that it is used, either directly or indirectly, in virtually every industrial process in the world. It is used in industrial applications such as the production of gasoline, fertilizer, chemicals, paints and batteries.

Chemtrade provides Sulphuric Acid regeneration (“regen”) services for our refining and chemical production customers who generate spent acid. Spent acid is Sulphuric Acid that has been modified (diluted, contaminated, etc.) while being used as a catalyst in a manufacturing process. Chemtrade efficiently reprocesses these spent acids into Commercial Grade Sulphuric Acid for reuse by the same customers, or for resale as Merchant Acid. Sulphuric Acid regeneration represents an important element of Chemtrade’s core North American product and service offering.

Chemtrade is a leading supplier of Molten Sulphur throughout North America. We provide professional removal services to producers in the oil and gas industry where Molten Sulphur is produced as a by-product. As well, we market molten sulphur to end users in agriculture, mining, industrial applications and chemical manufacturing.

Molten Sulphur is pelletized into Prilled Sulphur for convenient bulk shipping and export at our Mount Vernon, Washington facility. Prilled Sulphur can be shipped by bulk vessel and shipping containers.

Chemtrade produces Ammonium Sulphate at our Fort McMurray, Alberta facility located within Syncrude Canada Ltd.’s bitumen extraction plant.

Liquid Hydrogen Sulphide is manufactured by reacting elemental Molten Sulphur with methane, propane, and/or hydrogen and is co-produced with our Carbon Disulphide product. Hydrogen Sulphide is used in nickel refining, specialized chemical manufacturing and various niche applications, like the manufacture of photo-voltaic cells. The product is produced in our plant in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and is shipped in cylinders by rail.

Chemtrade manufactures Aluminum Chlorohydrate (ACH) at a number of production facilities. Over the past several years, Chemtrade has invested in new sites and improved production to better serve our growing customer base. Chemtrade provides ACH via railcar, truck, totes and drums.

Chemtrade is one of North America’s largest Aluminum Sulphate producers. With more than 40 production facilities, we are able to supply a wide range of Aluminum Sulphate grades, both in liquid and dry forms, including standard, low iron, iron free, and food grade.

Chemtrade’s Ferric Sulphate is supplied to customers across North America through our network of production sites. Our broad Ferric Sulphate production capabilities allow us to serve the vast North American market most economically. Importantly, we are very selective of the raw materials used in our manufacturing process and work to minimize heavy metals, such as manganese, which can impact our customers’ product quality.

Hyper⁺Ion is a tradename for a broad product line that includes Chemtrade’s Polyaluminum Hydroxychloride (PACl)  and Polyaluminum Chlorosulphate (PACS) products. Chemtrade offers one of the most complete offerings of Polyaluminum Chloride and Polyaluminum Chlorosulphate (PACl/PACS) products. While in many applications, standard PACl/PACS products are precisely what is required, there are instances where stricter regulations or treatment goals require the use of one of Chemtrade’s enhanced PACl or PACS solutions. To meet customer needs, Chemtrade has invested in facilities able to produce these enhanced products.
