Clearstone offers a broad selection of services to sample, measure, estimate and simulate emissions from process, fugitive, and natural emission sources. We perform root-cause analyses to determine the key sources of off-site air quality problems, compare emissions to available benchmarks and performance standards, and delineate the different practicable control solutions available. Our experience includes the development of emission factors and methodology manuals for government and industry, delineation of odours, determination of baseline emissions, emission forecasting and backcasting, and emission reporting.

Clearstone Engineering provides complete engineering solutions for controlling emissions of CH4, CO2, VOCs, BTEX, NOx, SO2, H2S, mercaptans, particulate matter, and air toxics by the energy industry. This includes engineering, procurement, construction management and supervision and commissioning services for monitoring and controlling emissions. Our key areas of expertise are as follows:

Clearstone has been involved in corporate, national and international climate change initiatives related to the energy sector for almost 20 years. We have worked with energy companies, industry associations and government agencies to quantify GHG emissions, develop emission factors and manuals for estimating emissions, and identify and evaluate reduction opportunities. Clearstone has also provided due diligence reviews, emissions monitoring and technical support for JI and CDM projects.

Clearstone Engineering is recognized as an authority on the measurement and control of  vented and fugitive emissions. We have authored a number of key reference documents published by government and industry in Canada and internationally on the subject.

Clearstone Engineering provides  cost-effective permitting and measurement services to industry, and has been developing new instruments and measurement techniques for meeting the challenge of new environmental regulations. Clearstone has also lead the development and demonstration of new approaches that can reduce operating costs by reducing emissions. We have conducted research studies for government agencies, such as Environment Canada and US EPA, and industry in support of GRI, GTI, PTAC, CGA and CAPP. Results from this research were later used to develop guidance documents for government and industry.
