Noise mapping is an important tool that Cole Jarman utilises to determine the impact of a wide range of noise sources on surrounding environments. A 3D computer model of an environment is constructed to allow for production of noise contours defined by current and future noise sources. We have the capability to map road, rail, aircraft and other noise sources including industry, wind turbines and motorsports.

Cole Jarman provides a complete service regarding construction noise and vibration. We undertake analysis of, and provide advice on, construction methods and phasing to reduce impacts. We work with local authorities to achieve agreeable limits, and conduct monitoring of noise and vibration to demonstrate compliance.

Progressing through the planning phase of a project can be one of the most important hurdles to overcome. Cole Jarman undertake in-depth noise and vibration assessments for the purposes of planning, as well as liaising with Local Authorities to negotiate suitable noise related conditions, to ensure the planning process is as smooth as possible.

The senior staff members of Cole Jarman have extensive expert witness experience on noise and vibration matters. We have given evidence at: Public, Local and Structure Plan Inquiries; Parliamentary Committee Hearings; at High, County and Magistrates’ Courts; Licensing Hearings. We prepare technical reports and develop these into Proofs of Evidence or legal statement. We participate in conferences and the preparation of rebuttal evidence; prepare briefing notes for Counsel or legal advisors on technical matters relating to noise; and negotiate with interested parties on technical issues.

Cole Jarman provide sound insulation testing services for any scale of project, from small residential schemes to large-scale apartment blocks. These skills are frequently also used in non-residential schemes such as cinemas, schools and offices.
