Consolidated Safety Services, Inc. (CSS) services
Earth & Space Science Support & Operations Services
We deliver scientific support to advance our clients’ research goals. CSS provides scientific services in support of leading-edge physical, chemical, and biological R&D and technology testing programs designed to improve and protect human health and to investigate ecological processes in marine, freshwater and terrestrial environments. We have developed and demonstrated advanced technologies for waste recycling and water reclamation, air revitalization, food production and the detection of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) agents.
Emergency Preparedness & Response Services
We help our clients prepare for and protect the health and environment of communities after disasters and hazmat releases. Federal agencies rely on CSS’ expertise to prepare for and respond to disasters, catastrophic events, and contaminated sites across the country. We have continuously supported federal emergency and environmental response contracts since 1989. We help agencies plan for and respond to hazardous material and hazardous waste incidents, including contaminants of concern, chemical warfare agents, pathogens, and other chemical, biological, radioactive, and nuclear (CBRN) hazards. Our scientists, engineers, and technicians integrate ongoing technical research with field-based experience to advance new methods and technologies.
Environmental Resource Assessment & Management Services
We apply science to address challenges affecting the nation’s natural resources. CSS provides science-based analysis of the environmental, economic, human health, and social factors that affect ecosystems. We conduct empirical and model-based research at multiple spatial and temporal scales. We develop recommendations and tools for researchers, industry, communities, and managers. Our work contributes to informed decision making for the responsible use, conservation, restoration, and preservation of natural resources.
Facilities Operations & Maintenance Services
We understand your facility support needs and deliver customized solutions. Aerospace, science, environmental, and research and development (R&D) clients rely on CSS. We deliver expert operations and maintenance (O&M) support to federal and state agencies, commercial clients, and academic and non-profit institutions. We deliver O&M services for technologically advanced and unique facilities, beginning at the design/build stage. Our services range from comprehensive, turnkey operations to tailored, expertise-specific needs.
Human Health Risk Assessment Services
We help advance the understanding of chemical effects on people and the environment. CSS helps our clients assess the effects of chemicals on human health and the environment. Our scientists research and analyze pesticides, herbicides, and other agricultural and industrial chemicals.

We provide our clients with tools to protect their workforce, the public, and the environment. CSS’ Safety, Health and Environmental Services Division provides experienced management and support for federal environmental, safety, and health contracts. We identify, evaluate, manage, and control all types of hazards – chemical, biological, physical, radiological, and ergonomic. Our staff are led by more than a dozen CIHs and CSPs.
Satellite Data Applications Services
Helping create a more environmentally sustainable, weather-ready, and secure nation through application of earth observation data. Remote sensing data collected by satellites offer a myriad of opportunities to monitor and measure changes in our earth’s environmental systems and man-made influences. CSS stands at the forefront of creating end-to-end system solutions through understanding the different satellite systems, capturing and sifting through the various data streams, and understanding their potential applications. CSS develops strategies to integrate satellite data with ground-based baseline studies, observe and understand changes and potential causes, to develop fundamental response, management and security issues. Our goals include identifying data and interpreting environmental intelligence for natural resource management, security and defense applications.
