VIC-Volume is a digital volume correlation system that leverages imaging from X-Rays or CT scanners to measure internal deformations within a specimen under load. Utilizing three-dimensional image slices, VIC-Volume generates volumetric displacement and strain data, offering a comprehensive view of the specimen's internal behavior. This technique involves tracking small volumes called voxels, akin to pixel subset tracking in 2D and 3D digital image correlation, allowing for full characterization in three dimensions. The system's voxel matching through metric function optimization ensures precise sub-volume identification. The output includes strain tensor variables with specific focus on z strain components. For effective data acquisition, VIC-Volume requires a speckle pattern based on density changes, achievable through material additives or inherent material properties.
