Inductive proximity technology is the preferred means of providing high-reliability position sensing of aircraft mechanical systems. Because it is non-contact, 100% repeatable and is not affected by environmental conditions, proximity technology is ideally suited for harsh applications and severe environments such as those found on landing gear, doors, flight controls and engines. Crane, with its ELDEC brand, is the industry leading supplier of inductive proximity sensing technology. SmartStem technology consists of wheel mounted sensors that communicate tire pressure and temperature wirelessly to either a hand-held reader, or by means of a fully integrated, on-board system for direct cockpit indication. SmartStem technology makes daily tire pressure checks quick, easy, accurate and with the hand-reader, automatically documented.
