CAN Bus Data Loggers

CSS Electronics - CAN Bus Logger & USB Interface

The CL1000 is a standalone CAN bus data logger offering the convenience of logging data without requiring a PC. It records onto an 8 GB SD card, expandable to 32 GB, enabling prolonged data capture from various high-speed CAN applications such as vehicles, machinery, and more. The device supports protocols like J1939, CANopen, and OBD2, making it versatile for different use cases, including vehicle development, compliance monitoring, and reverse engineering. The compact design facilitates easy integration across fleets, while the plug-and-play setup and low power consumption ensure hassle-free operation. It streams data in real-time via USB using SavvyCAN or Python, offering powerful tools for analysis. The CL1000 also includes software for configuring, converting, and decoding log files, supporting both raw and DBC decoded data streaming. It features automatic bit-rate detection and can be powered directly through the CAN connector.

CSS Electronics - CAN Bus Logger & USB Interface

The CL2000 is a versatile CAN bus logger designed for standalone data logging and real-time USB streaming. Equipped with an 8 GB SD card, it can record CAN bus data with precise timestamping facilitated by its real-time clock, essential for accurate post-analysis. This device is particularly suited for vehicle fleet management, diagnostics, reverse engineering, and prototype testing due to its compact size and low cost. Its CAN interface supports various protocols like J1939, CANopen, NMEA, and OBD2, making it adaptable for numerous vehicles, including cars, trucks, and motorcycles. The CL2000 can also detect bit-rate automatically and be powered directly via a CAN connector or USB for configuration without additional power sources. Moreover, its support for cyclical logging ensures continuous data collection by overwriting old data when space runs out, providing a continuous logging solution. Its low power consumption allows it to be left connected without excessive drain on the vehicle’s battery.

CSS Electronics - Digital Multimeter for Long-term Data Logging

The plug & play 2x CAN/LIN logger records timestamped CAN data (Classical/CAN FD) to the extractable 8 GB industrial SD card. It's easy-to-use: Simply connect the device to your CAN bus to start logging raw CAN data. Next, extract the data and process it using 100% free open source software/API tools - incl. file format conversion, DBC decoding and plot visualization. Ideal for recording CAN/LIN data over weeks, months or years - e.g. for diagnostics, OEM development or legal/warranty purposes.

CSS Electronics - GPS-to-CAN Module with 3D Inertial Sensor and Untethered Dead Reckoning

The CANmod.gps by CSS Electronics is an advanced GPS-to-CAN module featuring a u-blox NEO-M8U GNSS/IMU chip, designed for seamless integration with any high speed CAN bus system. This device outputs GNSS position and 3D inertial data while delivering continuous positioning through its sensor fusion technology, even in the absence of a GNSS signal, thanks to its Untethered Dead Reckoning capability. Its flexible power requirements (5-26 V DC) simplify installation across various automotive applications. The compact module is configured to broadcast data via configurable CAN bus frames and includes utilities for modifying CAN IDs, bit rate, and data frequency using a simple JSON-based configuration interface. The CANmod.gps is ideal for enhancing automotive telematics, enabling the connection of one or more CANmod.gps devices to a CAN network, and efficiently logging data from both CAN traffic and the module's sensor outputs. This versatility makes it a cost-effective solution for adding GNSS/IMU data into a variety of CAN bus systems.

DBC files (CAN databases)

CSS Electronics - DBC File for Heavy-Duty Vehicles

The SAE J1939 DBC file provides essential decoding rules for converting raw J1939 data from heavy-duty vehicles into understandable physical values. It supports a wide range of J1939-based software and API tools, offering broad compatibility with various vehicle makes and models. The DBC includes over 1800 Parameter Group Numbers (PGNs) and more than 12000 Suspect Parameter Numbers (SPNs). Providing a legal license based on the J1939 Digital Annex Excel file, it simplifies integration into vehicle data analysis processes. While it covers most standard J1939 signals, users may need to address manufacturer-specific proprietary PGNs manually. The package aims to minimize the complexity and time required for manual DBC file construction, enhancing efficiency for automotive engineers and analysts. Support for multiplexed messages is provided in a simplified format, with the option for future updates based on demand.
