Chain Ladder Dredges utilize a large chain with specialized cutting links to loosen the material. Most commonly used in sand and gravel mining operations it has the advantage of removing oversize material, large rocks and coble and conveying that material away from the suction to limit re-handling issues at the suction.  Chain Ladder Dredges are available in sizes from 8”-20” and with ladder lengths up to 150 feet.

Cutter Head Suction Dredger is a type of dredge that uses a rotating cutter sometimes called a crown or a basket to loosen material at the suction mouth of the ladder. Cutterheads are available in a variety of sizes and types. At Custom Dredge Works we currently have designs on Serrated, Pick tooth , Plain edged and Scalping style cutterheads on dredges with 8”-20” discharges and ladders to 150’plus.

Ladder Pump Dredger: A ladder pump dredge has the pump located as the name states on the ladder. Locating the pump on the ladder allows for the pump to become submerged when the ladder is lowered. When the pump is submerged it becomes more efficient and allows for a higher percentage of solids to be pumped through the system. Ladder pump dredges are available in cutterhead suction, chain ladder, and straight suction from Custom Dredge Works Inc. with 8”-20” discharge and ladder lengths up to 150’ plus.
