CyCurex - Generic Reagent for Remediation of Toxic Heavy Metals Contaminated Materials
CyCurex of Cylenchar Limited UK is a generic reagent for the remediation of toxic heavy metals contaminated materials. The risks of harm from toxic heavy metals wastes are dramatically increased if they are in soluble or latently soluble forms. CyCurex treatment converts soluble metal compounds into stabilised metal sulphides. The sulphide ores of heavy metals are stable and amongst the most insoluble of heavy metal compounds. Therefore, they are of dramatically lower toxicity and greater stability than their other adducts. This stability is why sulphide metal ores are so abundant in nature. The CyCurex process was designed to replicate natural geochemical processes that occur in hydrothermal vents. As so many heavy metals are derived from their sulphide ores, it is reasoned that Cylenchar technology acts to revert these materials back to the form in which nature intended them to be!
CyFix - Heavy Metals Remediation Reagents
CyFix brand heavy metals remediation reagents were devised for ex-situ land treatment and in-process waste treatment. Being largely insoluble in nature, they are generally applied ex-situ to the substrate in a pug-mill, but can applied to surface contamination in-situ by being spread as a powder or slurry and mixed with the surface substrate by track-hoe, plough or harrow. CyFix reagents can be applied with or without ordinary Portland cement (OPC) to improve substrate texture. Additionally, it can be applied by conventional jet grouting systems to remediate subsurface contamination, which is beyond economic ex-situ treatment due to high excavation cost or may be advantageously deployed to form a `permeable reactive barrier` to mitigate heavy metals contamination migrating in groundwater.
CyCura - Binary Ex-Situ Bioremediation System
CyCura is a binary ex-situ bioremediation system that can reduce or eliminate organic pollutants in soil based substrates. It is effective against petroleum hydrocarbons and even complex polycyclic aromatic compounds. CyCura `S` treatment involves rebalancing the substrate`s chemistry and nutrient levels to provide bio-stimulation of the existing intrinsic microbial organisms, thereby harnessing and accelerating the natural process of bio-digestion of organic pollutants.
CyGuard - Patent Pending and Proprietary System
Mercury is found at trace levels in all fossil fuels, including oil and natural gas. In these environments, mercury is predominantly found in its elemental form. Carried in the gas phase and liquid hydrocarbon steams it gives rise to amalgam corrosion of industrial equipment, the impact of which can be serious. The presence of mercury in natural gas became a problem after the 1973 catastrophic failure of the aluminium heat exchangers at Skikda, Algeria, led to a plant explosion and fire in which 27 people were reported killed, with a further 74 injured. Aluminium corrosion is not the only risk. CyGuard is a patent pending and proprietary system presently under development for the low cost abatement of elemental mercury and other heavy metals in liquid and gaseous hydrocarbon streams.
CyAspis - Radio-nucleotide Capture and Containment Technology
Cylenchar`s patent pending CyAspis system can isolate and act to concentrate hydrogen isotopes such as tritium, whilst at the same time precipitating caesium and strontium radio-nucleotides, binding them into a stable matrix.
