Bat Building Surveys

We have reliable, experienced bat licenced ecologists whom are able to carry out all levels of bat survey in order to identify whether your plans are likely to have an impact on bats before you submit your planning application, saving you time and money. Ground Level and Aerial Tree Inspection

Darwin Ecology have a number of licensed bat ecologists, trained in aerial rescue and with specific training in inspecting trees for bats. These surveys are undertaken using an endoscope to confirm the presence or absence of bats. Tree climbing surveys can be undertaken at any time of year. Upon completion of the field survey, a report will be produced, which will include details of the survey findings and recommendations for mitigation and enhancements that will be required in order to implement the developmental proposals.

Protected Species Surveys

Darwin Ecology Staff are able to carry out surveys for barn owl, breeding and winter bird survey, badger, dormouse, reptile, great crested newt, water vole, otter, crayfish, invertebrates and bats. Allowing you to be aware of any potential impacts and licensing requirements before you submit your planning application.

BREEAM & Code for Sustainable Homes

Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) and Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) ecological assessment surveys are undertaken by our qualified, CIEEM registered ecologists. Code is now compulsory for all new build buildings. Maximising your ecological credits can often be a cost effective way of gaining credits and will improve the environment around your development, making it more saleable.

Phase 1 and NVC

Site owners and Local Planning Authorities have a legal obligation to ensure developments aims to maintain and enhance biodiversity interest on or around the development site and we will provide recommendations and solutions as to how you can develop your land and protect local wildlife. We are able to carry out full National Vegetation Classification and extended Phase 1 surveys as well as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals that will give you an overview of the likely potential of protected species and habitats on site.

Licensing

European Protected Species Licences are required when development works are likely to have a negative impact on a European Protected Species such as bats, dormice or great crested newts. The licences are issued by Natural England within the areas we tend to work. Company founder, Mike Cummings, is a Bat Mitigation Class Licence Registered consultant, allowing licence returns within approximately 10 days for low impact works to bat roosts. Darwin Ecology Ltd have a 100% success rate in European Protected Species Licence applications.
