Engineered Products - Filtration - Polymer Filters

DDD - Extruder Screens, Spin Packs & Polymer Filters

High quality filtration requires high quality media. Polymer manufacturing requires a wide range of filters and filter media for processing, finishing and recycling the materials. Dorstener Drahtwerke has over 15 years experience in manufacturing and engineering of polymer filtration components of many varieties to meet the challenges faced by today’s polymer processing Industry.

DDD - Polymere Filtration

High-quality filtration requires high-quality media. Polymer manufacturing requires a wide range of filters and filter media for processing, finishing, and recycling the materials. Dorstener Drahtwerke has many years of experience in the manufacturing and engineering of polymer filtration components of many varieties to meet the challenges faced by today’s polymer processing Industry. As a fully integrated company, we produce not only polymer filters and plastic extruder screes but also the media we use in our filters. All of our polymer filtration media is designed for the specific requirements of the users’ processes. Our state of the art manufacturing facilities allow us to offer high-performance filters direct from the manufacturer at an economical cost.

Engineered Products - Filtration - Screens & Sifting Technology

DDD - Screen Cloth

We weave screen cloth as a square weave according to ISO 9044 and ISO 4783. We store a broad range of square weave variants with a width of up to 3,000 mm in our warehouse with a separation size between 20 μm – 30 mm. Oblong and broad opening meshes offer a larger open area and a reduced tendency to clogging. Nowadays, the most often used stainless steel materials are 1.4301, 1.4401 and 1.4016. Upon request, we manufacture duplex materials and other grades of stainless steel. High-tensile stainless steel grades (e.g. 1.4310) and spring steel cloth (DIN EN 10270) offer higher abrasion resistance and improved vibration behavior.

DDD - Hook Screens

Hooks are the most widespread method for mounting screens onto vibratory screeners. They are designed depending on the mesh and the type of screening machine. Screens as longitudinal or transverse tensioners with tensioning folds are available with all common fold types. We supply double bead folds for thin wire cloth with and without vibration-damping inserts. Standard tensioning edges are used for heavier fabrics. Flat tensioning edges are also possible. For special screen boxes and wooden frames we fabricate screens with a PU or PVC (FDA compliant) edge protection strip. We can deliver these with open fixing holes or eyelets.

DDD - Screen Frames

To produce the correct tension of the sieve, screen cloth is pretensioned and glued onto frames. Glue in conformity with FDA is available for respective applications in the food or pharmaceutical industry. In general, the round or rectangular metal frames can be recovered by our rescreening service. To some extent, new replacement frames are available from stock. For fine or difficult screening tasks, we adapt ultrasonic excitation if required.

Woven Wire Cloth - Square Weave

DDD - Model 1/1 - Plain Weave

The plain weave is the most common type of weave for wire cloth with a rectangular opening. Due to its accurate and robust opening it is commonly used for screening and classifying. We weave screen cloth as square mesh according to ISO 9044 and ISO 4783 and stock a broad range of square weave meshes in widths up to 3000 mm.

DDD - Model 2/2 - Twill Weave

The twill weave is commonly used if with a given opening a thicker wire has to be used or if the cloth has to be flexible for deep-drawing. A change of the twill’s direction will result in a more robust herringbone pattern.

Wire Cloth - Filter Cloth

DDD - Plain Dutch Weave (Plain Weave)

For the plain dutch weave, the shute wire is woven closely to the previous wire in a plain weave manner (1/1). This simple dutch weave is the most common filter cloth. We can achieve special filtration effects and micron ratings by varying the diameter and tightness of the wire. The warp wires are thicker than the weft wires in this type of weave.

DDD - Reversed Dutch Weave

The name reversed dutch weave – also called PZ mesh – originates from the reversed size ratio of the warp & weft wires. In this filter weave, the warp wires are thinner compared to the weft wires. This type of weave has a high load capacity in warp direction due to a large number of warp wires next to each other. We can weave it as a plain or twilled weave. The pores are aligned diagonally to the mesh surface.

Sintered Wire Cloth Laminate

DDD - Sintered Fiber Media

Metal fiber fleeces are laid, sintered, and calendered from different fiber layers with stainless steel fibers from 2 μm diameter. The result is a filter media that is easy to process and made of corrosion-& heat-resistant, and stable stainless steel material with precise filtration performance. We can design metal fiber fleece so that filter fineness, porosity, dirt-holding capacity, and stability meet the requirements. Sintered fiber media is widely used in burner applications, but many other industries also take advantage of its excellent filtration performance.
