The falling-ball method of measuring viscosity is known for its ease of operation and extreme accuracy. This instrument greatly enhances the method through auto¬matic electronic ball sensing and microcomputer control. The viscometer can measure both transparent and opaque fluids. The plastic sample tubes and steel balls can either be cleaned and reused, or disposed of. The test stations are designed to be immersed in an oil bath to maintain a constant temperature. Both four tube test stations with the model DV-4X4 are designed to be immersed in two separate oil baths so that viscosity can be measure at two different temperatures simultaneously.
