Geotechnical - Ground Anchors

Dywidag - Threadbar Anchor System

Bar anchor systems are used extensively for retaining tieback and uplift resistance. The system is based around DYWIDAG’s Threadbars, which ensure ease of coupling and stressing. The wide range of capacities (up to 4500 kN) enable threadbar anchors to be used for many applications. Typical section lengths range from 6 to 12 meters. Where multiple short sections are required, the DYWIDAG Strand Anchor System may be more suitable.

Dywidag - Strand Anchor System

DYWIDAG Strand Anchor Systems offer increased flexibility and higher capacities compared with traditional bar anchor systems. Higher capacities can be achieved simply by adding additional strands to the tendon bundle. Strand anchors are particularly suited to areas with low headroom or restricted access where flexible bending of the tendon is required. Large multi-strand jacks are available for stressing high-capacity anchors.

Dywidag DYWI - Drill Hollow Bar Micropile

DYWI Drill Hollow Bar Micropiles can be installed in restricted access areas or in close proximity to existing buildings. Due to the fully threaded system, the micropile can be extended and grouted in areas where the founding level is deeper than expected. The rotary percussive drilling method ensures minimal disturbance is caused during installation compared to driven piling systems, enabling the foundations of old structures or buildings to be upgraded without damage.

 

Dywidag - Threadbar Micropile System

The DYWIDAG ThreadbarMicropile is a drilled and grouted micropile with a diameter of less than 300mm (12 in.). Centrally reinforced with one DYWIDAG Threadbar, the DYWIDAG ThreadbarMicropile transfers large loads (including tensile, compression, and alternating) using small diameter drill holes in any soil type. It is particularly suited to low headroom applications or where piles are located adjacent to existing structures. The DYWIDAG ThreadbarMicropile is a simple, economical and universally applicable foundation element.

DYWIDAG Threadbar Soil Nails offer a rapid and economical method for stabilizing slopes and battered cuttings, often being more cost-effective than installing traditional excavation supports. Available for any length of service life, the DYWIDAG Threadbar Soil Nails are a passive system suitable for installation where open hole drilling and grouting is possible. The compact design is suitable for areas where access is restricted and can be used for both temporary and permanent applications.

Dywidag - Threadbar Rock Bolt System

DYWIDAG Rock Bolts are typically formed from solid threadbar systems, using a bar, nut, couplers and plates. The threadbar is used to bond unstable rock to stable sections used for tensile and shear loads. Rock bolts are fully bonded and, unlike ground anchors, are passive installations. Thanks to the higher bond strength offered by rock compared to soil and the efficient load transfer of the threadbar, rock bolts can be installed into a much smaller hole than soil nails or ground anchors, saving time and money.

Dywidag DYWI - Drill Hollow Bar Rock Bolt

DYWI Drill Hollow Bar Rock Bolts are used for rock bolting and grouting into softer rocks where there is loose ground or sections prone to collapse. The speed of installation, combined with the ability to grout through the bore of the bar, make them a popular choice for rock bolting in remote locations and challenging drilling conditions. Drilling options include grout or water flush, followed by grout injection. Alternatively, the simultaneous drill and grout technique can be used for softer ground.

Dywidag Lattice - Round Bar Girders for Tunnel Support

DYWIDAG Lattice Girders are used as immediate passive support systems in tunneling construction. They provide the same mechanical characteristics as traditional H-beam profiles while mitigating their downsides. The girders are made of high-strength round bars. Compared to conventional H-beam profiles, they weigh much less while offering the same loading capacity, making the installation and handling work faster and easier. DYWIDAG Lattice Girders allow shotcrete lining to be combined with steel profiles into a uniform RC structure, generating the fastest bearing capacity gains and improving water-tightness for the whole structure.

DYWIDAG TH-Profile Systems are an active support solution for excavations and are ideal when a 360° circular support is needed. The steel profiles are an efficient and safe ground control element for tunneling, where compressive ground conditions are present. DYWIDAG TH-Profiles connect simply by sliding each component into another and using the locks to connect them securely.
