Bottle cleaning produces wastewater with a high alkaline pH, sometimes near 11. To prevent lime deposits on the bottle, the pH needs to be reduced.

The mercerization process involves immersion in a caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) solution, which later needs to be neutralized.

Concrete produces alkaline wastewaters. Carbonic acid neutralizes wastewater from concrete production and construction sites. In this industry, carbonic acid prevents lime scaling in the wastewater pumps and calcification on the concrete’s surface.
