EPIC - Management of Fugitive Dust Training Course

Fugitive dust management is an essential part of large infrastructure projects, site remediation as well as mineral extraction and some industrial projects. The primary tool to management offsite fugitive dust is typically the development and implementation of a dust management and control plan that is typically submitted to the regulator for approval. This course takes the participant from an understanding of the mechanisms that produce fugitive dust through the assessment of the problem and the development of a suitable dust control plan. This is done using experience gained on a wide variety of dust control projects and applied in a case study format through to plan development. While participants are encouraged to bring along their own case study or problem, where this is not possible case scenarios will be provided.

EPIC - Wastewater Treatment, Water Recovery and Re-Use Training Course

Water recovery and reuse is economical for industries and is an environmentally sound practice. The purpose of this seminar is to provide participants with an understanding of the principles and practices of wastewater treatment, water recovery and reuse. The seminar covers wastewater characterization, treatments and using conventional technologies such as biological and phys-chem treatments, as well as advanced treatment technologies such as filtration and membrane processes, ion exchange and carbon adsorption processes. The audit process, from both the manufacturing and the waste treatment process points of view, will also be discussed.

EPIC - Application of Artificial Intelligence in Civil/Environmental Engineering Training Course

Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and machine learning approaches will revolutionize many aspects of future  Civil/Environmental Engineering field. AI can be used as a promising tool to tackle different problems but related aspects of  civil/environmental practical cases as great concern all over the world. The main focus of this course is to understand and discuss the recent developments in AI applications relating to practical engineering application. This course introduces a variety of different topics in AI approaches and learning methods in modeling and prediction of complex environmental systems. The practical examples are illustrated and will show you how to apply this technique into practice.

EPIC - Canadian Environmental Protection Act and Regulations Training Course

The environmental “command and control” compliance philosophy continues to dominate the government policy agenda.  The only way to avoid liability for non-compliance is to thoroughly understand regulatory requirements.  This course enhances your knowledge and skills by increasing your understanding of current federal environmental compliance issues.  The regulations are described with emphasis on the application of regulations in the various areas of concern to industry.

EPIC - Introduction to River Ice Engineering Training Course

River ice causes prevalent problems in Canada and will be addressed in this course.  Breakup and subsequent ice jams cause significant damage in some areas.  This course will provide an introduction to river ice engineering and is tailored to an audience of non-specialist professionals. From the formation of ice covers to breakup and ice jams, this course will illustrate the river ice processes and identify common problems associated with these processes through case studies.
