The different available output signals make this instrument compatible with many other innovative systems. The component materials were selected based upon their resilience under extreme conditions. The housings are made of seawater-impervious anodized aluminum and the cup-star and wind vane are made of glass fibre reinforced special plastic, making them extremely durable and resistant. This transmitter is specialized for use in mountainous terrain, polar climates, or at other critical sites where icing might be expected frequently. It provides all of the advantages of the compact design along with mitigating sub-zero temperature risk with its reinforced heating capability.

Ultrasonic anemometers allow the measurement of quickly changing wind parameters thanks to the acoustic measuring principle. The horizontal direction (within 180 degrees) and both gust and peak wind speed values are acquired inertia-free with the highest precision. The measurement values can be transmitted digitally and/or in analog form. The serial or analog output of the data is carried out as an instantaneous value or alternatively with a selectable time frame. If necessary, the sensor arms are automatically heated when ambient temperatures reach potential icing levels.
