Ion Exchange

Ion exchange is a proven, well known technology that has been used commercially in a wide variety of applications for over 50 years. Ion exchange has been designated as a "Best Available Technology" by the EPA for the removal of arsenic from drinking water sources. Envirogen deploys a range of ion exchange system designs to remove a target contaminant or a combination of contaminants. Particular benefits may be found when multiple anionic contaminants are present (i.e., perchlorate, nitrate, uranium), as the treatment problem might be effectively addressed with a single technology.

Model FBRs - Bioreactors

For a broad range of influent flow rates and contaminant concentration levels, our fluidized bed reactor (FBR) system is often the most economical treatment choice. With aerobic, anaerobic and anoxic designs available, systems have been successfully operated at ranges from 5 to 6,000 GPM, yielding high performance paired with low capital and operating costs. Whatever the problem – chemicals, aromatics, alcohols, ketones, chlorinated solvents, PAHs, hydrocarbons, BTEX, perchlorates or nitrates – the FBR system handles high flows at low cost with typical treatment efficiencies of 99 percent or higher. Additionally, this is one of the most efficient denitrification processes available today. Our FBR denitrification process lowers discharge  levels of nitrogen in wastewater to less than 0.1 mg/l NO3-N. This simple end-of-pipe solution can use different carbon sources, does not require backwashing, produces minimal biosoloids.

Biofilters

Envirogen biofilters provide cost-effective odor control solutions with these products: Built-in-Place BiofilterBuilt-in-Place systems - custom designed using standard system components for high-flow applications to safely destory VOCs, HAPs and odor-causing chemicals. P-Series – used for mid-range flow rate applications and well suited for treating odors at headworks, large lift stations and sludge handling facilities. H-Series – designed for low air flow rate applications for odor and sulfide removal. Bioscrubber towers - a vertically oriented biofilter, ideal for space-limited applications.

Regeneration/Small Systems

Envirogen offers pre-engineered and packaged treatment solutions for select contaminant removal in potable water system with well flows from 50 to 900 gpm. Our central regeneration facility enables Envirogen to offer low flow systems that use vessel or media exchange where on-site regeneration of media is not cost effective. We also have the capability to deliver mobile systems for short-duration treatment needs. Our services range from design, fabrication, delivery, installation and maintenance of equipment; as well as handling of the exhausted media and waste management. Our service may also include a sampling program, whereby effluent water samples are tested on a regular basis. For maximum efficiency, systems are easily adaptable, and the vessels can be configured to treat a wide range of flows. Envirogen has the technology and facilities to process and regenerate exhausted ion exchange resin and other adsorptive media to return it to service with restored treatment capacity.

Mobile Treatment

Envirogen Technologies, Inc. is a designer, supplier and servicer of temporary and mobile treatment solutions.  Our treatment solutions incorporate our FlexSorb, HyperSorb, and membrane treatment systems.  These treatment systems are delivered as either stand-alone or mobile mounted trailers for quick deployment and ease of relocation to meet changing client process requirements. Envirogen is ready to meet your unplanned or short duration needs.

Coagulation Filtration

Coagulation filtration processes collect contaminants that have been coagulated in the influent water onto a selected filter media.  At regular intervals, the media undergoes automatic backwashing, with backwash water captured in settling tanks.  The precipitate in the backwash tank settles to the bottom of the tank and is periodically removed for disposal via tanker truck. After settling occurs, a majority of the backwash supernatant is recycled through the process, maximizing the efficiency of the system.

Chemical Purification

The Envirogen team has proven capabilities in delivering cost-effective system designs and ongoing services to improve manufacturing operations through purification of in-process product or byproduct streams. Capabilities include removal of a variety of constituents from process liquids, such as alcohols, non-polar and polar organic solvents, glycols and alkanolamines. We also provide separation technology for aqueous and non-aqueous specialty chemicals, such as surfactants, active pharmaceuticals, water soluble polymers, electronic chemicals and synthetic lubricants. Typical contaminants removed include ammonia, metals, organics and radionuclides. Proprietary and patented technologies for purifying process streams yield operational improvements while meeting environmental and financial goals.
