Technical and Legal Advice

Laws and regulations on environmental field is diverse and complex. In addition to national legislation, European legislation is getting more important. For effective implementation of relative costly environmental studies, it is of importance that the legal starting points for your unique situation are clear. EnviVice establishes a document, whereby you can make solid decisions regarding the approach to follow. Also your environmental file, including any previous studies will be thoroughly studied. In this way, no unnecessary costs are incurred by unnecessary (re)examination. The written report of EnviVice can then be aligned with other stakeholders, think of the authority, residents and surrounding businesses and/or environmental groups. This increases the chance of acceptance of the chosen approach and the results achieved.

BAT Research

With the aid of a BAT investigation it is investigated whether it is shown that an applied situation can be licensed. BAT stands for the legal concept of Best Available Techniques. According to legislation a company always needs to apply a BAT at the applying of a license. For air and odour emissions, this means practically, the making of reasoned choices between a large number of (technical) measures. These measures can be both source-oriented, process-integrated and/or downstream techniques. Some common downstream techniques are filtration, adsorption, absorption, biological techniques and afterburning.

Farm Emissions Measurements

Emission measurements to stables were always executed in the past by the former IMAG, institute for environmental/agriculture technology (now known as Wageningen UR Livestock Research, Animal Sciences Group ASG). Recently, several commercial parties such as EnviVice can perform measurements on stables, provided that a number of quality criteria are met. Envivice will respect the commitments enshrined in the measurement protocol, ‘Measurement of ammonia emission from housing systems in livestock production 2010’ or `VERA test protocol Version 2` so the result by Tac-Rav committee (desk function by Agentschap NL) are accepted. Pilot stole scheme measurements are performed whereby review of the results takes place at a predetermined emission of ammonia in index numbers g / animal place / year. Efficiency measurements of chemical and biological air scrubbers are performed for verification result to licensing requirements.

Odour Research

EnviVice can execute smell or odour investigations for you. These studies are often conducted in nuisance situations or under the Environmental Protection Act.

Industry Emissions Measurements

EnviVice provides emission measurements of various components. The next components among other things, can be measured: Combustion components such as volatile hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide; odour, (fine) dust and ammonia. Other components can be measured on request. The results of the measurements can be tested against requirements included in for instance an environmental permit, or against demands in direct-acting laws and regulations such as BEES, BEMS, BVA, etc. Monitoring emission demands according to the Dutch emission Guidelines (NeR) is of course, also possible.

Workplace Air Research

In the framework of the Working Conditions Decree, article 4.2, it can be necessary to perform exposure measurements. EnviVice performs these measurements on the base of the NEN EN norm 689 ‘Guidance for the judgment of the exposure at inhalation of chemical substances for the comparison with the limit values and the measurement strategy’. Reviews of the measurement results can occur at public or private limit values. If no private limit value is determined, EnviVice can make a proposal for this (based on the methodology Dohsbase). The measurements are usually performed based on NIOSH and OSHA standards. The written report of EnviVice is standard independently reviewed on completeness and accuracy by a certified occupational hygienist.
