EOMAP - Satellite-Derived Bathymetry (SDB) Service

Satellite-Derived Bathymetry (SDB) offered by EOMAP represents an innovative method for surveying shallow waters by leveraging algorithms developed since the 1990s. This approach utilizes physics-based quantitative solutions to transform satellite sensor data into reliable bathymetric information. Notably, EOMAP is the only provider employing this rigorous methodology, ensuring data of high quality suitable for applications in nautical charting, hydrodynamic models, and coastal zone management. The service offers bathymetric data at varying spatial resolutions of 2m, 10m, and 15-30m, accommodating different project requirements with turnarounds from hours to weeks, depending on location and size. The browser-based eoapp® SDB-Online allows users to generate high-resolution bathymetric charts using advanced algorithms. The service uses the Lowest Astronomical Tide as the default vertical datum, while compatibility with GIS and hydrographic software for data integration is ensured through adherence to OGC standards.

EOMAP - Benthic Cover and Habitat Mapping Services

EOMAP can map, classify, and quantify the seafloor in shallow waters. Our benthic cover and habitat mapping methods are based on our value-added processing chain, which removes the distorting effects of the atmosphere, water surface, and water column from the satellite imagery. This offers you an unbiased and focused view of the seafloor over vast areas, contrary to spotty data collected through diving transects. Together with our spectral databases and the expert knowledge of our image analysts, we turn satellite data into valuable and ready-to-use information on the nature of the seafloor. With our benthic cover and habitat mapping procedures, we can supply information for extended areas, significantly minimising time-consuming and risky on-site surveys or even avoiding them completely. In addition, this helps you explore changes over time.

EOMAP - EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) Reporting Services

Government agencies responsible for water management all over the world need access to local, national or global information and trends about the quality of inland waters. Industry, too, needs data for the management of water-related issues. In Europe, several directives relate to water monitoring. One of the most important is the Water Framework Directive (WFD) which requires EU member states to assess the status of bodies of water (such as lakes larger than 0.5 km²) based on a number of biological, chemical and hydro-morphological quality elements and to report the status of each water body to the European Commission.

EOMAP - Environmental Impact Assessment Services

An environmental impact assessment (EIA) is a process to identify and quantify the environmental impact of a concept or project. EIAs are relevant throughout the lifecycle of a project, starting in the tendering phase. They very much define the public acceptance of projects, especially in environmentally sensitive areas such as coastal estuaries and mangrove environments. We can advise on the best strategies for using satellite imaging in this process, to help you to get the full picture not only of the past and the present but continuing throughout the life of the project. As a fully independent service provider, we will base our decision on the fit-for-solution concept.

EO Online

EOMAP - SDB-Online - Cloud-based Bathymetry Mapping Software Services

SDB-Online is an innovative cloud-based application developed by EOMAP for creating high-resolution bathymetric maps of shallow waters. Utilizing Satellite-Derived Bathymetry (SDB), this software offers a comprehensive tool for coastal planners, engineers, and environmental scientists to obtain reliable bathymetric data without extensive hardware or field surveys. The platform allows users to access satellite imagery quickly and generate bathymetry grids with just a few clicks, providing a cost-effective solution for mapping sea depths globally. It is compatible with all browsers and offers flexible pay-per-use pricing. Users can enhance their surveys with additional services like manual QA/QC or Seafloor Classification. Recognized for its precision, SDB-Online helps improve the accuracy of nearshore wave and current models and supports ecological studies by detailing seabed interactions. As part of the European harmonized bathymetry grid, its data are essential for coastal management, and EOMAP's expertise ensures its trusted application worldwide.
