Silencers

Silencers are equipment that reduce noise caused by the discharge of pressurized gases to the atmosphere. Among the three types of existing silencers (reactive, dissipative and reactive-dissipative), EQUIREPSA designs and manufactures the reactive-dissipative type. This type of silencer allows to reduce the noise in a wider range of frequencies. That is the reason why it is used in security valves discharge, ejectors evacuation for plants start-up and other kind of vents in very unfavourable conditions from the acoustic point of view, because the generated noise is composed by waves from low to high frequencies. Its versatility also allows the use of this kind of silencer in less critical service conditions, where the other two mentioned types could be applicable too.

Vacuum Systems with Ejectors

A vacuum system typically consists of one or more stages of ejectors with intermediate condensers which produces the condensation of the vapors coming from the previous stage. The suction pressure varies in a range from 0.100 to 200  Torr. For higher absolute pressures, a single steam ejector is enough, that is, only one stage. When vacuum systems with steam ejectors, consist of several stages, air, gas and steam drawn out from the facility where vacuum is being created, undergo a compression in each stage. The number of stages equal to the number of ejectors connected in series. Intermediate condensers are use for condensing motive steam from ejectors, additionally to the steam aspirated from the facility where vacuum is being created thereby suction load is reduced in each stage. These condensers can be either mixing or direct contact as well as surface. The required amount of stages depends on the level of vacuum required in accordance with the following figure:

Spray and Surface Condensers

EQUIREPSA designs and manufactures condensers, not only as a part of our own vacuum systems, also for a variety of industrial applications. The main types of condenser manufactured by EQUIREPSA are the following: These are equipment that condense vapours by direct contact producing an efficient condensation of steam and cooling of non-condensable gases.  These are equipped by one or more spray nozzles, to create a large interfacial area in order to improve contact and heat transfer. These type of condenser are suitable when the mixing between the process fluid and the cooling fluid is possible.

Ejectors

Equirepsa - Ejectors - Thermocompressors

An ejector is essentially a fluid-fluid pump that has no pistons, valves, rotors, or other moving parts and works by transfer of momentum from the primary fluid (high pressure) to the secondary fluid aspirated (low pressure).

Equirepsa - Modulated Steam Jet Compressors

The modulated steam jet compressors are compressors built-in carrying a pneumatic valve, regulated by a control loop (although the regulation can also be done manually). They allow energy savings, adjusting the engine motive flow to the minimum possible, compatible with the stability of the vacuum system.

Equirepsa - Eductors

The eductor is a liquid-liquid ejector, which used pressurized water for pumping other liquid from a lower to another higher level. Allows the use of all types of liquids or solutiosn, provided that there is no impediment to mix them. There is a variation of this device: the solids eductor. In this equipment the suction stream is a liquid with a suspended solid. These equipment are usually supplied with a hopper for feeding solids and recirculation system of the driving fluid to the hopper for generating the slurry that the equipment will pump.

Ejectors are fluid-fluid pumps that work by transfer of momentum from the primary fluid (high pressure) to the secondary fluid aspirated (low pressure), discharging a mixture at an intermediate pressure.

Equirepsa - Hydraulic Exhausters for Pressurized Water

These equipment are ejectors where pressurized water is used as motive fluid. The exhausters are particularly suitable when steam supply is not available and in all those cases that vapors with high amount of associated steam have to be handled, because while pumping the gases also work as a condenser. These equipment allow high compression ratios and reach low suction pressures with just a single step. The suction pressure is limited by the vapor pressure of the motive water. In case of using a non volatile liquid as motive fluid, it can be reached a pressure of few Torr.

Liquid ring vacuum pumps are used for operating vacuum level up to 33-44 mbar a, depending on liquid ring temperature. Moreover, it is fairly cheap. They provide a high reliability because of their simplicity. This type of pumps are normally used to handle gas mixtures which contain condensable vapours.
