IMO Circulars BWM.2/Circ.70 (BWM.2/Circ.70/Rev.1) provide guidance for the commissioning testing of ballast water management systems. The latter is part of the Amendment of the Ballast water Management of the Convention Resolution MEPC.325 (75) Amendments to Regulation E-1 and Appendix I of the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ship’s Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004 which makes Compliance testing as commissioning mandatory for all vessels.

As BWTS is a new system on board vessels and its service may require additional knowledge from the crew, ERMA FIRST provides different Maintenance Service Contract packages based on the customer’s actual needs. The deliverable of any of these contracts will result with the issue of a Good Operation Condition & Calibration Certificate. The latter can be used by the vessel’s crew as evidence that the system is well maintained and operates according to its maker standards.
