ECI is an industry leader depositing optical coatings to temperature sensitive substrates.

ECI has the experience to fixture, clean, coat and inspect Fiber Optic Devices. Preparation and coating processes are performed in a clean room environment. Process temperatures below 50°C minimize out-gassing from epoxies and cladding materials. Designs include super low, narrow band laser wavelengths, C-Band, L-Band and dual wavelength coatings. Coatings are designed for components whose devices must pass extended humidity and temperature cycling!

ECI produces thin-film coatings using a variety of different deposition methods, our most advanced deposition method is Ion Beam Sputtering (IBS). Ion Beam Sputtering produces coatings that are very dense with low surface roughness. Another advantage of IBS thin-film coatings is that they exhibit superior thermal stability. IBS coatings can withstand exposure to temperatures up to 300°C for long-term exposure and 500°C for short-term exposure. IBS coatings also exhibit lower thermal shift than other types of coatings. Typically thermal shift is < 0.5pm/°C for Ion Beam Sputtered coatings. Evaporated Coatings’ four IBS coating chambers utilize state of the art monitoring techniques to produce coatings that yield near theoretical performance. Figure 1 shows the actual performance of a filter coating when compared to the theoretical design.

ECI manufactures all types of high performance optical filters over the range from 240nm – 2600nm.

ECI’s coatings include enhanced metal, broadband dielectric and high performance laser mirrors.

ECI manufactures ITO (Indium-Tin-Oxide), transparent gold, and other hybrid transparent conductive coating designs.

Beamsplitters are designed to separate an incoming or incident light into two components consisting of a reflected and a transmitted beam.

ECI deposits a wide variety of metal and dielectric materials onto glass, semiconductor, plastic, fiberoptic or metal substrates to customer specification.
