Marine Environmental Monitoring Systems

Pathfinder - Ocean Current and Oil Spill Tracking Drifter Buoy

The Pathfinder provides a compact, low-cost, easy to deploy and re-useable method to accurately track and model ocean currents and oil spills. It is a rapid response Self Locating Datum Marker Buoy (SLDMB) designed specifically for oil-spill response professionals. It provides in-situ, real-time tracking and temperature data of ocean currents and oil spills. The Iridium satellite system delivers data reports to Fastwave’s on-line tracking system and/or directly to a client’s GIS or current modelling application.

PAMBuoy - Marine Mammal and Marine Noise Monitoring System

PAMBuoy is a cutting edge autonomous noise level and marine mammal detection passive acoustic monitoring system. It has been designed to run multiple software detection and monitoring algorithms to reduce data volumes from 80GB to the several megabyte for transmission to shore, whilst being low power enough to handle extended deployment periods at sea. Its core electronics and software package, the RTDC, remains the same for all deployments and can be reconfigured in-situ for a variety of different species, in many cases running multiple species detection concurrently.

Ocean Glider Subsurface Ocean Samplers

A New Paradigm in Marine Data Acquisition. Ocean gliders provide dynamic, high density data sampling from the water column in near real-time, enabling timely, quantitative assessment of the environmental risks associated with dredge plumes, oil spills, outfall discharges, sediment run-off, drilling discharges etc.

Triton - Broadband Telemetry Buoy

The Triton telemetry buoy offers broadband data acquisition from sensors located on the buoy, suspended in the water column or on the sea floor, depending on application requirements. It designed for extended coastal and offshore moored deployments, with solar and battery power systems to support multiple sensor payloads. The Triton has an integrated controller that provides a flexible platform for managing data acquisition, storage, transmission and battery and solar systems. Sensors can be integrated with the Triton system according to specific client requirements. Typical applications include meteorological and oceanographic measurements such as air temperature, pressure, wind, rain, sea temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, chlorophyll, PH, currents and waves. Data can be delivered via e-mail inbox, FTP or web site. The satellite broadband data system used by the Triton has global coverage and is unaffected by the movement of the buoy. Other telemetry communication options on the Triton include Iridium Short Burst Data, GPRS, Bluetooth® and radio. The Triton also has an integrated GPS and AIS system to enhance navigational safety. By opening the data bottleneck that occurs at the ocean surface, the Triton can also act as a data gateway for subsea acoustic networks, hydrophone monitoring and AUV data transfer.
