FILTEC multimedia filter units are skid-mounted, workshop assembled and wired, hydro-tested, and delivered ready for installation. Sand filters are used to remove suspended solids from water and wastewater. Because they have one layer of filter media, sand filters remove only relatively large solids. Finer granules yield finer filtration.

FILTEC have engineered several Lamella Settlers designs to cost effectively separate particles and turbidity from water. By dividing the flow, a greater settling rate can be achieved with a significantly smaller footprint and capital cost than other systems. The vessels are fabricated from epoxy coated mild steel. They come with low distribution at the inlet, sludge extraction devices and stainless steel launders. FILTEC have designed several proven Lamella Settlers. We have the in-house design and build capabilities to incorporate these tanks into a complete package plant system with floc tanks, sludge removal, chemical dosing, pipework and pumping.

When dealing with low dose rates of Sodium Hypochlorite, it is beneficial to dilute the concentrated solution prior to dosing. This helps the product to maintain a longer shelf life and reduces the chance of gassing off while also allowing for increased accuracy of dose rates. Additionally, there are Health and Safety advantages in handling a diluted chemical. The FILTEC Sodium Hypochlorite Dilution Unit is a manual make-up system which allows the operator to dilute the concentrated liquid hypochlorite down to the desired % dilution ready for dosing.

FILTEC Polymer Makeup Units provide you with fresh, consistent polymer in an automated process that meets the needs of your system. Batching polymer manually can be a messy, time consuming affair and is often open to operator error. Additionally, once the polymer has been made up it has a shelf life of only 3 – 4 days, depending on the temperature, which ensures that the procedure must be repeated regularly.

It features a narrow band wavelength filter for improved accuracy; long-life LED’s and a built-in cell for ultra-performance. This high quality unit self calibrates and automatically selects the optimal wavelength for each test. All tests use the patented EZ-3™ Reagent Delivery Method, a quick and easy procedure for analysis.

Filter Gravel is an extremely effective filter media because of its ability to hold back precipitates containing impurities. Filter gravel size, angularity and hardness are the important filter sand characteristics to ensure proper filtering. Specific Gravity: 2.70.

Filter sand is hard grained quartz or silica sand having no constituent and is not friable or liable to mechanical breakdown when subject to pressure. The sand contains no carbonaceous matter, clay or silt and the loss on acid washing and ignition in each case is less than 2% by weight. Its specific gravity is not less than 2.2 or more than 2.5, and is within the size range of 0.6 mm to 2 mm.

Anthracite Filter Coal is used extensively in water filtration and in water treatment because of its excellent filtration properties. Anthracite coal is a top quality coal that consists of hard, durable coal particles that come in various sizes. Anthracite is used along with silica sand (dual media system) or with silica sand and filter rock (mixed media system) or by itself (mono media system).

Activated carbon is also known as activated charcoal, activated coal, carbo activatus or an “AC filter”. It is a form of carbon processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area available for adsorption or chemical reactions. Due to its high degree of microporosity, just one gram of activated carbon has a surface area in excess of 500 m2 , as determined by gas adsorption. An activation level sufficient for useful application may be attained solely from high surface area; however, further chemical treatment often enhances adsorption properties.
