As with mobile plant many industries utilize very expensive, heavy equipment and machines such as shredders. Whilst usually very reliable, this equipment can be susceptible to elements of the working environment. Working with waste often in areas of high fire loading presents particularly a high fire risks. Given that risk, the high cost of the units and the flammability of diesel, hydraulic oil and the heat produced, FireWard systems offer the best protection for this type of situation, industry wide. In the event of a fire, the FireWard system will release its extinguishing agents automatically, resulting in suppression times faster than could be achieved using manual suppression. Every second saved results in less damage, less downtime and less loss.

Following two major fires on the processing belts of a metal recycling system FireWard were commissioned to provide a fire suppression system that could not only provide protection in an extremely harsh environment, but also act fast enough to catch a fire as it moved through the building on the high speed conveyers. This extremely challenging brief saw the development and patent of our High Pressure Powder system. A solution that has never been attempted before and now acts to suppress fire as it travels along production belts eliminating the need for manual fire fighting whilst allowing zero down time to the line usually caused by shutting down the system to make an attack on the fire.
