Lamps manufactured by First Light are made of pure quartz tubing versus soft glass to maximize the lamps usable life. Soft glass lamps have reduced output and shorter usable life due to the negative effects of solarization.

First Light Technologies, Inc. offers High Output (HO) in all lamp configurations; these lamps will deliver up to two thirds more UV output than standard lamps. First Light’s HO lamps are offered with the standard HO filament or can be equipped with our long life electrode. First Light’s long life filament is a single piece construction, High Output filament. This filament provides added benefits over conventional filament types. This filament can be operated from 600 to 1200mA. Single piece construction offers greater durability and helps reduce the occurrence of premature burnout. The use of this filament offers greater UV output than those using conventional filaments.

First Light Technologies, Inc. offers amalgam lamps that deliver up to 3 times the UVC output of standard low pressure UVC lamps. First Light Technologies’ Amalgam series of lamps are designed to operate efficiently at higher operating temperatures than standard and (HO) lamps. These benefits allow equipment manufacture to realize greater efficiency and lower equipment cost. First Light’s amalgam series is a cost effective alternative to medium pressure lamps. In house manufacturing capabilities allow First Light to provide the OEM with a lamp that fits their equipment needs. Key features include:

First Light’s germicidal lamps and quartz sleeves are manufactured using 99.9% pure fused quartz. This material allows for maximum UV transmission. Quartz sleeves are available in a wide variety of lengths and diameters. First Light’s capabilities include cutting, doming, bending, polishing, splicing, and flaring.

The ballast is a critical component of a UV system and an incorrect choice of ballast can be time consuming and costly. Although First Light does not manufacture any ballasts, we maintain relationships and technical expertise to support our customers with ballast selection. Additionally, we maintain a resale and test ballast inventory in effort to support our customer’s ballast selection.

First Light Technologies is pleased to offer our customers PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) Encapsulation. This value-add enhancement option may be included on most UV lamps manufactured by First Light Technologies, Inc.  The addition of a thin layer of UV transmittable PTFE (.25mm) encases the full length of the lamp, including connectors, using a special heat process.  After the process, the PTFE encapsulated lamp, can be used in the same equipment where a non-encapsulated lamp once sat.  If the lamp is broken during installation, equipment operation or re-lamping, the components of the lamp are fully contained and the purity of the environment is not contaminated.
