Microreaction Technology

In recent years, global research activities have clearly demonstrated that the application of micro-structured reactors, mixers and other microprocessing elements with dimensions in the sub-millimetre or sub-millilitre range, offers numerous advantages. Compared with conventional synthesis processes, microreactors offer a significant increase in heat and mass transport, together with precise, continuous process control, which leads to substantial improvements in terms of efficiency, selectivity, product quality and safety. Furthermore, microreaction technology paves the way towards new synthetic products and process methodologies.

Environmental Simulation

Throughout their service life, technical products are exposed to a wide variety of environmental influences that affect their function, service life, quality and dependability. For technical and economic reasons it is important to construct and manufacture them so that they can resist harmful influences in a real-life context, and continue to function reliably. In special technical units, environmental influences are stimulated on technical products. The environmental effects are subsequently determined and the products evaluated. Tailored tests have also been developed.

Comminution

Welcome to the information page for comminution technology at the Fraunhofer Institute for Chemical Technology in Pfinztal-Berghausen. The fine comminution and classification of materials for initial experiments or small batches, particle-size analysis and further bulk and material measurements.
