Powered by our own Acu-Res® Technology, FT wind sensors are unique in the market. Resonating an acoustic wave inside a narrow cavity allows us to design compact wind sensors with a signal-to-noise ratio more than 40dB stronger than other ultrasonic technologies. Extremely small, with no moving parts to degrade or damage, the sensors are rugged, maintenance-free and deliver over 99.9% data availability, for years on end, even in the harshest of environments.

The FT742-SM Surface Mount wind sensor is designed for delivering exceptional performance in various applications, including marine and top IMOCA sailing teams. Featuring an electronic compass and a thermostatic heater, this versatile sensor has proven its capabilities in UAVs, drones, military vehicles, autonomous robots, handheld weather stations, drifter buoys, vehicle-mounted, and ship-based meteorological systems.

The Direct Mount wind sensor fits directly onto a 33.7mm OD pipe and reads wind speeds up to 75m/s. This makes it ideal for a wide range of meteorological applications.

Precision and reliability are paramount for optimal performance. The DM50 wind sensor sets the industry standard, delivering accurate wind speed, direction and temperature measurements even in the most challenging conditions. For ease of installation, it fits onto a 47.9 to 50.2mm OD pipe and reads wind speeds up to 75m/s. Special alignment collar and mounting tool are available as optional accessories. Engineered for wind turbine control, retrofit and all onshore or offshore installations, it is the ultimate choice for upgrading existing systems and ensuring peak efficiency.

The Flat Front wind sensor is designed for quick and easy installation against a metal bar. Designed to last for up to 20 years, even in an offshore environment, the FT702 model is used by turbine manufacturers around the world. The updated FT722 version reads speeds up to 50m/s and the FT742 reads speeds up to 75m/s. Highly resistant to electromagnetic and acoustic interference, it is also an ideal choice for smaller-scale wind turbines. For retrofit, it provides a single, compact solution to replacing an existing mechanical wind vane and anemometer wind measurement system. With no moving parts to wear out or degrade, turbine downtime is reduced, power output is increased and yaw control is more efficient.

The Pipe Mount wind sensor is designed for installation on top of a pipe or post using the FT090 Pipe Mount Adaptor. Designed to last for up to 20 years, even in an offshore environment, the FT702 model is used by turbine manufacturers around the world. Made from a graphite and nylon composite, and weighing only 100g (3.5oz), our lightweight sensors have been specifically designed for use on drones and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). Resistant to electrical interference, they are able to operate at altitudes up to 4000m and at temperatures between -20°C and +70°C. The FT205 model measures wind speed, direction, and temperature and features a built-in compass.

FT Technologies can supply small quantities of pre-assembled cables and connectors. For large volumes or long production runs it may be more economical to buy cables directly from your preferred cable manufacturer.

The Pipe Mount Adaptor enables an FT wind sensor to be easily and securely mounted onto a 41-50mm pipe. This provides improved environmental and electromagnetic grounding protection, helping reduce the effects of lightning.
