Water Supply Services
Drinking water is GELSENWASSER"s core business. Every year, approximately 230 million cubic metres of water are delivered to households, supply companies and industrial businesses. We supply a total of 2.7 million residents with drinking water. For more than 120 years, GELSENWASSER has been cooperating with municipalities in the field of water management. We therefore have a wealth of experience in dealing with municipal partnerships and can provide a wide, demand-oriented range of services and cooperation structures.
Wastewater Management Services
Drinking water and waste water are components of a cycle which is affected by man and industry and which is also an integral part of the natural water cycle. As a private company with close links to the municipalities, GELSENWASSER can supply concepts which are tailored to the municipal needs with due consideration to the requirements and demands of our partners. Successful GELSENWASSER shareholdings, involved in the privatised sector of waste water management, operate in Bremen, Dresden, Emmerich am Rhein and Herne. An efficient and safe disposal in compliance with the latest standards ensures a service the towns alone would not have been able to provide without raising the fees drastically.
Environmental Management Services
As a supply company, GELSENWASSER bears particular responsibility and therefore declared environmental protection as a corporate goal at a very early stage. First and foremost, the provision of the population with drinking water requires the company to actively protect the environment. Only then, the present high quality of drinking water can be maintained and preserved for future generations. The water cycle must remain intact to ensure, in the long run, a production of drinking water by treatment methods which remain as close to nature as possible. The GELSENWASSER logo symbolises this principle: a blue river in green countryside.
Regional Engagement Services
Founded in 1887 to supply the coalmining industry and the people in the Ruhr Valley with water, GELSENWASSER is now one of Germany"s leading water providers. Apart from performing its routine operations, a continuous engagement for the people in the region and their environment has, at all times, constituted an integral part of its business. It has always been a tradition at GELSENWASSER to provide financial, journalistic and organisational support for numerous social and cultural projects in the municipalities of its supply area.
