The GEM-2 is our best-selling product. The GEM-2 measures apparent electrical conductivity and magnetic susceptibility of the ground and will detect metals and voids in the ground. Its powerful transmitter and wide coil separation allows scanning to depths up to 10 meters.

The hand-held GEM-3 uses the same electronics and firmware as our GEM-2 ski, so its features and options are comparable. Because it is comfortable to carry and has a field-swappable battery, extended surveys are no problem. It is available with 3 different diameters of sensing head: 30, 40 and 65 cm. The larger diameters provide more moment for greater depth penetration, while the smaller diameters are better for localization and target discrimination.

The GEM-3 configuration which is the basis of our hand-held GEM-3 instruments can be scaled up for use on a pushcart. Because the transmit coil runs around the edge of the panel, it can generate much larger moments than in the hand-held instrument. The greater moment allows it to find smaller/deeper targets. The wider size means that a single surveyor can cover large areas more quickly. The cart format also makes easy to mount a precise GPS receiver. As with all our instruments, the GPS positioning data is merged with the EM data in real time.

The GEM-3 configuration can be built as a GEM-3 array. The GEM-3 Array is a flat panel with a large transmitter coil along its perimeter and 3 , 5 or 7 equally-spaced receiver coils along its center line. This configuration provides the best of both worlds: a wide swath for fast area coverage, with the resolution of a smaller receive coils.

The GEM-5 array is a vehicle-mounted or vehicle-towed gradiometer sensor for rapid ground coverage. It has a transmitter in the middle straddled by two identical receiver coils below and above. The difference between the two receiver coils constitutes the signal. The gradiometer configuration has the following advantages:

The GEM-2A is our standard airborne instrument. It is a programmable, broadband EM sensor for Geologic investigation, ground water surveys, and mineral exploration. The system utilizes a single set of transmitter-receiver coils for all frequencies, rendering an advanced HEM system with high sensitivity, light weight, and minimal drift. The frequencies are selectable and it also includes power line monitoring. The GEM-2A has both horizontal coplanar and coaxial coil sets The tow cable provides DC power and digital communications.
