Safety and Health protection at the Workplace

By the term “work safety”, the work safety law implies the “safety and the health protection of the employees at work”, which is to be safeguarded and improved through measures of work safety. In Germany, the work safety is classified in a dual system. Along with regulatory work safety guidelines, such as the work safety law, the occupational safety act, the construction site ordinance, the ordinance on industrial safety and health or the ordinance on hazardous substances, the law of the professional associations is also there in the form of sector-related accident prevention regulations.

Hazard Assessment Services

The assessment of the risks associated with the work is the prerequisite for effective work safety measures related to the construction site. It is mandatory for each entrepreneur. With the help of this anticipatory, preventive assessment, the demolition company can determine, assess and define measures for the expected risks for each individual activity in actual operational situations while preparing the offer, during planning and while preparing for work.

Education and Continuing Education

The public view of the demolition and disposal sector has already turned to positive thanks to high technical and corporate standards. In order to enhance the quality standards of the sector even more in future, it is particularly important to have a well organised training for the various professions in the demolition sector. The German Demolition Association (DA) considers itself as a strong partner in the field of education and continuing education. In the year 2004, the teaching profession of “Building mechanic for demolition and concrete cutting technology” was introduced with the participation of the association. A dual course is possible for this profession since the winter semester of 2012. In cooperation with suitable institutions, the DA regularly offers further training programmes or recommends them.

Recycling and Waste Disposal Services

The recycling management is characterised by high technological leaps in development. This relates to all areas of waste prevention, waste utilisation, recycling as well as the environment-friendly removal of contaminated sites. For this reason also, the selective dismantling could be enforced as the most frequent method for complete demolition. In doing so, the accruing material is gathered separately based on variety and accordingly sent to waste disposal or to recycling.

Social Policy and Collective Agreement Services

With its own social and tariff policy, the German Demolition Association is also aware of the interests of its members. At all places, where the lawmaker gives leeway to the wage agreement parties of a sector, we make use of this to strengthen the competitive ability of our medium-sized businesses. Thus, for instance, possibilities for making the working hours flexible, even with work time account, or shortened notice periods during the probation period have been agreed upon contractually with the trade union IG Construction Agriculture Environment.
