Glass Technology Services, (GTS) services
Analysis Services
Composition Analysis Services
A range of UKAS ISO:17025 accredited compositional analysis programmes are available for a range of materials, glass samples, defects, inclusions, refractories, dusts and other materials. Our in-house x-ray fluorescent spectrometry (XRF) method development specialists also enable us to create specific calibration methods for your material.
Failure Analysis
Failure Analysis Services
Glass failure and fracture analysis is a powerful tool combining the techniques of fractography and microscopy that allow the root cause of a glass breakage or glass product failure to be determined. Services include both the investigation of items that have already failed as well as quality assessment and physical and mechanical performance testing services to ensure proper due-diligence before products are placed upon the market or following concerns or complaints over the performance of existing products.
Physical and Mechanical
Pendulum Impact Testing Services
Pendulum impact testing is used to determine the impact resistance, strength and breakage characteristics of a range of glass items in order to ensure that they are fit for their intended use.Glass Property Measurement Services
Liquidus Temperature Services
The liquidus temperature (TL or Tliq) is the temperature above which no crystals can exist - above this temperature the melt should be homogenous. Prolonged heat treatment of glass can lead to crystallisation if the temperature is not properly controlled.Research, Innovation and Development
Composition Development Services
Glass is a truely unique material with a vast range of properties and possibilities. Our specialist knowledge in glass composition and resulting optical, thermal and physical properties allow the development of specialist glasses for novel applications, product development or to improve existing products or processes.
Environmental Services
Stack Emissions Monitoring Services
We are accredited by UKAS to ISO 17025 and the Environment Agency`s MCERTs Monitoring Certification Scheme. All our site staff are fully trained in working at height and hold MCERTs level 2 certification. MCERTs accredited testing is a requirement for all IPPC part A1 and A2 processes. In addition to standard monitoring and testing our experienced staff are able to assist with the interpretation of monitoring results and, working with our consultancy services, advise on abatement strategies.
