Global Advantech - Electrocoagulation and Advanced Electrochemical Oxidation

Electrocoagulation is an electrochemical process for the treatment of waste water, effluent, process water, produced water, bilge/ballast water, mine tailings, etc. The process was originally developed in 1906 to treat bilge water from ships, but was never adopted at the time due the lack of legislation concerning marine discharges.

Global Advantech - Cavitation Scrubbing System

Global Advantech’s cavitation scrubbing systems are designed to maximise generation of hydrodynamic cavitation using water pumped at high pressure. Applications for cavitation scrubbing systems:  Soil washing to separate and recover hydrocarbons from heavily contaminated soil and sand, e.g. at old oil refineries and storage depots, engineering works, former gasworks, after a crude oil spill offshore.  Cleaning and recovering base oil from exploration/production well drill cuttings separated from oil-based drilling muds.  Separation of fine particulates from aggregates in clay extraction.

Cavitation Stripping Gases

Hydrodynamically generated cavitation is a powerful tool to strip dissolved gases from water and effluent. The substantial pressure drop in cavitation systems, causes dissolved gases to come out of solution. Global Advantech’s cavitation scrubbing systems are designed to maximise generation of hydrodynamic cavitation using water pumped at high pressure. Cavitation stripping may be used for many applications, including: Stripping methane, ammonia and hydrogen sulphide from landfill leachate. Stripping methane, volatile hydrocarbons and hydrogen sulphide from produced water in oil and gas production. Stripping methane from aqueous muds used in drilling some oil and gas wells.

Acid Mine Drainage Water Treatment

Global Advantech’s system for the treatment of acid mine water removes sulphates and other cations in water discharges from working and abandoned mines and other industrial works. These cations both contribute to acidity and solubilise heavy metals into solution, making these discharges hazardous to the environment

Oil and Gas

Aqueous Cleaning of Drilling Cuttings

Drill cuttings arise from drilling exploration wells, new production wells and workovers on producing wells. They contain agglomerates of rock fragments, oils, hydrocarbons, salts, drilling muds and other chemicals, some of which are hazardous and toxic. The chemistry of many modern oil-based drilling muds is formulated to remain stable under the high temperature and pressure conditions present during drilling.

Brine Treatment

Global Advantech’s process for the treatment of used/recovered completion brines removes sulphate cations, suspended solids, heavy metals, hydrocarbons and most other organic compounds, thus allowing their re-use and lowering completion costs. The process combines chemical treatment with electrocoagulation.
