Engineering Services
Gomez and Sullivan’s civil and water resources engineers have been active and respected in the dam safety community for over 30 years. These individuals perform engineering services on hydroelectric projects of all sizes. We have participated in the inspection, design, construction, and rehabilitation of dams and water control structures ranging in size from a few feet high to earthen embankment dams 770 feet high. The combined experience of Gomez and Sullivan’s team spans a variety of dam configurations including earthen embankment, concrete, masonry, timber crib, steel, and composite sections.
Environmental/Geomorphic Services
Gomez and Sullivan employs a staff of individuals experienced in the aquatic and terrestrial disciplines. Our environmental scientists have been providing technical guidance and facilitating negotiations in water resources management for over 20 years. We specialize in assessing the impact of anthropogenic modifications of hydrologic systems (i.e. water withdrawals, wastewater discharges, land use changes, and dam operations) on various aquatic resources. Our team performs environmental studies as well as more specialized investigations in areas such as habitat assessment, GIS analysis, risk assessment, and data management. We have significant experience implementing a variety of instream flow setting techniques, conducting geomorphic studies, as well as water quality analysis and research.
Hydrology/Hydraulics Services
The world’s lakes and rivers represent one of our more vast yet precious natural resources. As a firm specializing in water resources, Gomez and Sullivan strives to produce compatible solutions to suit our clients’ needs while preserving the intrinsic qualities of our environment. Our team of engineers and scientists utilize current technologies to conduct hydrologic and hydraulic studies, including hydrologic modeling using geographic information systems, statistical prediction methods, water balances, flood mapping, sediment transport analyses and dam breach studies. Our staff have performed over 100 hydrologic studies, as well as storm water management plans, watershed assessments, Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), and floodplain mapping/management.
