Water Treatment
Water Hygiene
Water is a natural resource that picks up undesirable gases and mineral impurities as it falls through the atmosphere. As it makes its journey through the soil and into streams and rivers it collects yet more impurities, manmade and natural. Water in its natural state is not perfect; nor is it perfectly suited for all the uses we demand of it. Even after extensive conditioning in external treatment (pre-treatment) equipment, nearly all water supplies need some form of further treatment and monitoring to make them trouble-free and suited for industrial or commercial applications.
Legionella Risk Assessment
The Approved Code of Practice L8 2001 ‘The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems’ (ACoP L8) applies to all businesses in the UK who store or use water in a manner that is likely to create an aerosol, irrespective of the industry sector to which they belong.
Cooling System Risk Assessment
The first step in achieving satisfactory control of an open circuit cooling system is to undertake ‘a suitable and sufficient risk assessment’ of the open circuit system in place. This is ‘best practice’ as laid out by the Approved Code of Practice L8 ‘The control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems ’2001 (ACoPL8).
