H2E offers in-house Geographic Information System (GIS) services that today are attached to so many operations in engineering, planning, management, and analysis. Our services include data collection, conversion and manipulation, database creation, mapping, data modeling, and analysis, allowing you to visualize large amounts of complex, spatial data by creating and combining layers of customized maps. Simply, GIS is the merging of cartography, statistical analysis, and database technology.

The Clean Water Act (Section 402(p)) requires that operators of `discharges associated with industrial activity` obtain a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) general permit. To be covered under this general permit, State and Federal regulations require operators of industrial facilties to submit a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).

An effective SWPPP is essential! If sediment and erosion controls and good housekeeping practices are not followed, activities at your site can result in discharge with significant amounts of sediment and other pollutants. BMPS are the controls and activities used to prevent stormwater pollution. BMPS are divided into two categories: structural and non-structural. Structural BMPS may include silt fences, sedimentation ponds, erosion control blankets, and seeding. Non-structural BMPS may include picking up trash and debris, sweeping sidewalks and streets, equipment maintenance, and training staff on erosion and sediment control practices. H2E will determine cost effective BMPS for your site and train your staff.

Industrial stormwater permits generally require routine facility inspections, visual assessments, discharge samples, and an Annual Comprehensive Site Evaluation (ASCE). The ASCE provides the basis for improved management of stormwater to reduce the potential for contaminants to be released to the surface. H2E will determine what your inspection and reporting requirements are, compile and review your sampling analysis results and quarterly reports into the ASCE, and submit the certified and signed ASCE to the appropriate agencies for site compliance.
