Advanced Ceramics
Nozzles and Slide Valves for Flow Control
H.C. Starck produces Nozzles and Slide Valves for regulation, control and dosing of molten aluminum. These parts can be made from our high tech ceramics StarCeram AT or StarCeram N. Both materials are characterised by an excellent thermal shock and corrosion resistance as well as a very low wettability by non ferrous metal melts. Besides an extremely high mechanical strength, Silicon Nitride has very good thermal conductivity. In contrast, Aluminum Titanate shows excellent insulating properties.
Bearing Bushes and Protection Sleeves
Plant engineering, mainly in pumps, mixers and stirrers, compressors and turbines.
Air Separator Wheels
Separating of grinding stock, mainly for food, drugs and raw materials. The ceramic air separator wheel is preferred for critical applications in drug and food industry, when no contamination of grinding stock is allowed.
Other Products
Wear Protection Parts
As a result of longer life-time, and therefore longer service intervals; our high-performance ceramics provide considerable advantages in comparison to metallic materials in terms of abrasion and corrosiveness. Our production is flexible and customer-friendly; therefore, we can manufacture suitable ceramics according to specific customer requirements. Advabtages of our material: Advantages: - high abrasion-resistance due to high strength and extreme toughness - high chemical corrosion resistance - high temperature resistance - high thermal shock resistance - low weight.
Technology Metals
Niobium Oxide Capacitor Powder
Niobium Monoxide Capacitor Powder - the economical and safe alternative for capacitors. One of the transition metals, niobium is a soft, gray, ductile element. Primarily obtained from pyrochlore, it can also be extracted from columbite-tantalite ores. Its physical and chemical characteristics are similar to those of tantalum.
Molybdenum Carbide
CARBIDES - Hardness combined with corrosion resistance. The strength and wear resistance of carbide ceramics are impressive. The H.C. Starck portfolio includes ten carbidic ceramic precursors, including chromium carbide (Cr3C2), titanium carbide (TiC, TiCN). The most important carbidic ceramics we offer by far are materials based on silicon carbide (SiC) and boron carbide (B4C). They are produced using a variety of methods depending on the area of application.
Tungsten Chemicals
H.C. Starck - Ammonium Paratungstate (APT)
White crystalline powder for the production of tungsten oxides and tungsten metal powders.
H.C. Starck - Sodium Tungstate
White cristalline powder for the production of luminophores, phosphorus, pigments and catalysts.
Tungsten Metal
H.C. Starck - Tungsten Metal Powder
Soft, agglomerated tungsten metal powders mainly used as raw material for cemented carbides and unalloyed tungsten rods and wires. Due to the agglomerated condition, the powder has an excellent cold uniaxial pressing behaviour.
H.C. Starck - Tungsten Metal Powder
In comparison with the standard W HC grades this product line shows a very narrow grain size distribution. These grades are generally recommended for hardmetal, medical and electronic applications.
