Floating Roof Seals -External / Primary

HMT - Scissor Shoe Primary Seal

The HMT Scissor Shoe is the world’s leading mechanical shoe seal for external floating roofs. Developed by HMT in 1987, the design has been continuously refined since then. To this day, it remains the most widely utilized and successful primary seal in the industry. The reasons are clear: it works extremely well to prevent gapping; it handles a wide range of rim spaces; and it’s extremely durable – resulting in a long-life, low-maintenance seal.

HMT - Model SealMaster - External Floating Roof Primary Seal System

The Sealmaster floating roof seal system was developed over 35 years ago, with the goal of making a seal that adjusts to the irregularities of tanks while remaining gas-tight and virtually maintenance-free. The solution is the Sealmaster seal system. The Sealmaster is comprised of fully hardened compression plates, extending from the floating roof rim to the tank shell and down into the stored product, thereby providing a non-combustible protective sheath over a fully-heat-welded vapor barrier encapsulating the entire vapor space.

Floating Roof Seals - External / Secondary

HMT - Model Econo-Flex - Rim-Mounted Compression Plate Type Wiper Secondary Seal

The HMT Econo-Flex Secondary Seal is one of the most economical and effective types of secondary seals available. Easily installed and maintained, the HMT Econo-Flex Secondary Seal was designed under the guidance of the stringent gap specifications for secondary seals from governmental regulatory agencies throughout the U.S., including Northern California’s BAAQMD and its “zero-gap” requirements. For a secondary seal that is custom-designed to fit specific tank round anomalies, has exceptional gap sealing ability, allows for in-service installation, and has a long service life, choose the Econo-Flex Secondary Seal.

HMT - Model Flex-A - Rim-Mounted Compression Plate Type Wiper Secondary Seal

The HMT Flex-A-Seal Secondary Seal is one of the most economical and effective types of secondary seals available. Easily installed and maintained, the HMT Flex-A-Seal’s ability to meet or exceed stringent gap specifications for secondary seals has earned its approval from governmental regulatory agencies throughout the U.S. and European markets.

Floating Roof Seals - Internal / Primary

HMT - Model Retro-Fit - Mechanical Shoe Seal for Aluminum Internal Floating Roofs

HMT’s Retro-Fit Mechanical Shoe Seal was designed to solve a common problem in the AST industry: how to add a primary mechanical shoe seal safely and effectively to an existing lightweight aluminum IFR. This seal employs a unique system of pontoons to provide additional buoyancy required at the perimeter and a compression ring to give the rim added strength and torque resistance to handle the drag forces exerted by the shoe seal. The Retro-Fit Mechanical Shoe Seal provides a long service life, compatibility with virtually all stored products, and a tight fit to aid in eliminating emissions losses.

HMT - Model Allentech - Primary Mechanical Shoe Seal

The primary mechanical shoe seal is considered a liquid mounted seal per API and EPA recommendations.  The tightly spaced hoop springs exert a nearly constant force against the tank shell to maintain the seal even around peaked vertical seams and abrupt tank distortions. We have completed thousands of installations throughout the world and have eliminated seal compatibility and replacement issues for AST operators since 1992.

Internal Floating Roofs - Skin & Pontoon Internal Floating Roofs

HMT - Model Aluminator WD - Welded Deck Internal Floating Roof

The Aluminator WD (Welded Deck) internal floating roof is the premier solution among low-emissions aluminum IFRs. Built on the proven structural components of the Aluminator 1000 heavy-duty AIFR, but with sheeting joints welded instead of bolted, this roof qualifies as welded construction per US EPA requirements. The Aluminator WD has several advantages over welded-panel-based AIFRs, including decades of proven history in both the structural and buoyancy systems, emissions welds that are raised out of the product, and a more economical installation price.

HMT - Model Aluminator 1000 - Heavy-Duty Aluminum Internal Floating Roof

HMT’s Aluminator 1000 was developed in 1992 in response to market demand for a high-strength aluminum skin and pontoon roof that can perform more like a steel IFR. This heavy-duty roof utilizes a robust system of structural girders and load-transferring connections which will not fatigue under repetitive operating loads, and will far outlast other skin and pontoon AIFRs. The Aluminator 1000 is ideal for tanks with high operating cycles, and high flow rates, or for applications with a long desired useful life.

HMT - Model Unideck Aluminum IFR - Skin and Pontoon Aluminum Internal Floating Roof

HMT’s Unideck is a proven IFR technology that has been protecting stored liquid products in aboveground storage tanks for over 40 years. Constructed of corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy, the Unideck’s structural system provides a high strength-to-weight ratio that delivers an excellent balance of performance and economy.

HMT - Model UnideckIFR - Stainless Steel Skin and Pontoon Internal Floating Roof

HMT’s Stainless Steel Unideck is a corrosion-resistant IFR that has been protecting stored liquid products in aboveground storage tanks for over 40 years. Constructed of corrosion-resistant stainless steel, the SS Unideck is an excellent option for stored products that are typically corrosive to aluminum or carbon steel.
