HoliSoils - Soil Sampling and Classification Training Course
The EU Horizon project HoliSoils, in partnership with ISRIC and the Thünen Institute, is offering a training course focused on soil sampling and classification from 25-27 September 2024 near Eberswalde, Germany, approximately 60 km from Berlin. This course aims to improve the harmonised monitoring of European forest soils, with specific emphasis on carbon stock calculation for greenhouse gas reporting. Participants will gain practical experience in several areas, including the design and execution of soil sampling, humus type classification, and the sampling of the litter layer. The curriculum follows the World Reference Base (WRB) classification system. Additionally, the course provides networking opportunities for professionals in the European forest soil monitoring and LULUCF sectors. The workshop fee is €110, which includes two dinners and a lunch, and accommodation at Gut Sarnow is optional at €99 per night, including breakfast.
