To ensure longevity and correct operation of the purification process, towns water must go through a number of pre-treatment stages, to remove chlorine, remove hardness, solids and organics. Whilst chlorine and hardness removal are standard requirements for most systems, the need for additional stages depend on the raw water analyses. At Honeyman Water we can advise on the right pre-treatment stages based on your raw water analyses, available from the local water board.

Purified water systems may be used for a variety of purposes in pharmaceutical manufacturing. For non-parenteral products it may be used in product formulation and final washing of process equipment and containers. In the manufacture of parenteral products it may be used in the initial washing of containers and to feed WFI systems. To produce Purified Water, it is necessary to remove organic substances, high and medium molecular weight ions and bacteria / pyrogens to a level that meet the Eur.Ph, USP or JP requirements. Purified Water is obtained by further purification of RO or Pre-Treated Water through Ion Exchange Deionisation/Demineralisation (DI), Electro Deionisation (EDI/CEDI), Ultra-Filtration and UV light treatment depending on the grade required.

HydroGienic® is an innovative, proven and patented pure water distribution system, delivering purified water or WFI to each point of use directly from the storage tank through PTFE hoses in a parallel delivery, rather than the conventional way of a stainless steel ring mains.  The innovative part is the way that high volumes of water can be delivered to each user point through relatively small borehole PTFE hoses, thanks to a patented dual manifold system, allowing water to continuously circulate and deliver flow to each user as and when required. This is achieved by reversed flow in the return line to deliver dual flow (through both to- and return hose). The HydroGienic® distribution skid and PTFE hoses are suitable for all grades of purified water, and are fully sanitizable by heat, Ozone and chemicals. 

UV reactors are a standard aspect of purified water systems, and provide an effective control against microbial growth. Where existing UV reactors are obsolete, faulty or need increased output, Honeyman Water can carry out a complete turnkey solution, from calculating the size of the UV reactor (W/cm2), sourcing, installation and IOQ. Our drafts team can modify P&ID’s to ensure you have up to date information on your installation. Upgrades may require pipework modifications and will most certainly require full validation.
