Hydro Gate - Cast Iron Slide Gates

Hydro Gate cast iron slide gates, formerly known as sluice gates, are used to control the flow of fluid through openings under seating or unseating head. Under seating pressure, fluid exerts a force on the front of the gate. The pressure of the water forces the gate slide against the frame which causes the gate to seal tightly. In the design of a structure where cast iron slide gates are used, place the gate so that it will be subjected to a higher seating head whenever possible. When this is done, a lighter gate can be used, and is usually more watertight.

Hydro Gate - Wall Thimbles

Cast Iron. Machined faces, drilled, and tapped for gate attachment. Forms opening through wall. A wall thimble is a separate piece of steel positioned into the wall structure before the concrete is placed. It provides a rigid, fixed opening and an accurate mounting surface for the gate, to minimize the possibility of distortion. Since most anchor bolts can be minimized, construction time speeds, accuracy is improved, and form work is reduced.

Hydro Gate - Hand Pull Stop Gates

Hydro Gate hand-pull stop gates feature an extruded metal or break formed plate section to act as a guide for the gate slide. The guide can be embedded in side walls or mounted on the face of a rectangular flume or conduit. The gate consists of an aluminum or stainless steel plate which can be reinforced if necessary, and has hand holes or handles for manual opening of the gate. A hand-pull gate is an economical way to divert water in rectangular channels.

Hydro Gate - Fabricated Slide Gates for Water Control

Hydro Gate® fabricated slide gates are designed and manufactured with custom extrusions, structural members, and brake-formed plate. Through years of experience, we have developed techniques for fabricating high quality slide gates which are designed and built around job specific requirements. Since there are no machined parts or wedging devices, the gate depends upon seal design to seal the fabricated slide. Fabricated slide gates are furnished with UHMW seals which is an industry proven design. They are designed for either open channel use or aperture type applications.

Hydro Gate - Stop Logs

Hydro Gate stop logs are used for level control in open channels. Logs are beams inserted in grooves cast in a channel wall. Typical nominal height of a stop log is in 6 inch increments, i.e., the log can be 6, 12, 18 inches in height, etc. Hydro Gate aluminum stop logs have rubber lip type seals on each side (end) to seal at the wall and across the bottom to seal at the sill or with the next log. The typical aluminum stop log is equipped with lifting lugs for use with a lifting beam. The beam is a self-engaging log handling device for underwater retrieval and manual lanyard release of the log.

Hydro Gate - Bulkhead Gate for Crane Handling

Bulk head gates are fabricated from steel or stainless steel. They are designed to be placed in slots or grooved channel walls and are lifted and lowered with overhead or mobile cranes. The gate has lifting lugs for handling. The slots or grooves are lined or fabricated from steel or stainless steel for ease of insertion and good fit with rubber seals on the bulkhead gate.

Hydro Gate - Standard Radial Gate

Hydro Gate’s standard radial gate is designed for a wide, clear waterway opening. A radial (or taintor) gate acts similar to a section of a drum. Pressure is transferred from the curved face through the horizontal support beams to the radial arms at the sides of the opening. The arms act as columns and transfer thrust to a common bearing located on either side of the gate opening. Flow is underneath the curved face as the gate is opened. This design results in a lightweight, economical gate that can be opened and closed with minimum effort and with comparatively small number of turns of the handwheel on the hoist.

Hydro Gate - Overshot Gates

Hydro Gate® overshot gates are overflow-style adjustable weirs that features a rectangular steel panel hinged at the bottom. The steel panel is raised and lowered using cables attached to the upper corners of the gate. Upstream water levels are controlled by raising or lowering the gate, which can be operated manually or electrically.
