Hydro Geo Chem, Inc. services
SVE/Bioventing Services
Phoenix-Goodyear Airport Superfund Site: Performed SVE pilot tests on four sites and used numerical modeling to design systems.
Numerical Modeling Services
Quantitative assessment of environmental processes is a powerful approach for focusing site investigations, screening remedial alternatives, and winning regulatory approval for cost-effective remedial approaches. Quantitative assessment of environmental processes involves the use of mathematical models, both analytical and numerical, to simulate the movement of fluids and fate of contaminants in the subsurface. Hydro Geo Chem, Inc. has been applying such models to problems of environmental site restoration and groundwater supply for nearly 20 years. Our experience includes simulating the behavior of water, gases, and non-aqueous phase liquids in both saturated and unsaturated soils.
Mining Services
Hydro Geo Chem is a consulting firm that provides the mining industry with support in dewatering and environmental projects.
Expert Witness Services
Hydro Geo Chem, Inc. has an active practice providing expert witness testimony and litigation support.
Water Rights Adjudication
Development of groundwater resources for Indian tribes in the west revolves around Winters Doctrine rights and the McCarran Amendment, which established Practical Irrigable Acreage (PIA) as the yardstick to quantify water rights. PIA claims are a complex interrelationship among economic, hydrogeologic, market, agricultural, and soil scientists to jointly develop appropriately scaled and economically viable irrication projects. Hydro Geo Chem, Inc. has extensive experiece in providing expert services to resolve water rights disputes.
Landfill Services
Aerobic and Anaerobic Bioreactor Engineering Services
When it comes to turning a landfill into a bioreactor, HGC provides the technical expertise necessary to properly evaluate, design, construct, and operate a full scale bioreactor system. HGC’s bioreactor experience includes pioneering research into aerobic bioreactors and the engineering skills for conventional bioreactor projects.
Construction Management Services
HGC routinely provides construction management, quality assurance, and bid solicitation oversight services to solid waste clients. These services are provided directly by field staff maintained by HGC. HGC staff have performed quality assurance/quality control services on landfill expansion and closure projects, as well as vapor extraction and flare construction projects. HGC is a licensed contractor in the State of Arizona for the construction of soil and groundwater remediation systems.
Landfill Remediation Services
Old or improperly managed landfills can pollute groundwater sources through the discharge of leachate or landfill gas. Federal regulations require active landfills to monitor for groundwater contamination and off site gas migration, and to implement contingency measures if such conditions are identified.
Charaterization of Soils and Groundwater Contamination Services
In many landfills, particularly those in arid settings, a major mechanism for volatile organic compound (VOC) contamination is advective transport by landfill gas (LFG) originating in the landfill. As a result of its extensive experience with pneumatic and hydrogeologic properties of soils, Hydro Geo Chem has been able to demonstrate and assess this VOC transport mechanism at a number of landfills in the arid southwest.
