In-situ Heavy Metals Treatment

ISOTEC offers in-situ heavy metals treatment via two technologies – calcium polysulfide (CaSx or CAPS) and ISOTEC Fe catalyst (AB24). Additional reagents utilized include FerroBlack®, sodium metabisulfite and sodium thiosulfate. In-situ chemical reduction treatment is a comparatively economical and rapid alternative to pump-and-treat. Furthermore, complex subsurface mixes of heavy metals and organic contaminants (e.g. VOCs, SVOCs) can be treated simultaneously using a combination of ISOTEC`s proprietary technologies.

Soil Mixing Expertise and Turn-key Environmental Remediation Services

ISOTEC provides soil mixing expertise and turn-key environmental remediation services to treat complex sites with high contaminant concentrations using oxidants (ISCO), reductants (ISCR) and metal stabilization reagents. When applied properly, soil mixing can effectively homogenize site soil and uniformly distribute reagents to targeted treatment zones, despite heterogeneous hydraulically conductive media. Additionally, there are no reagent volume limitations, so predetermined dosing rates may be applied in one pass. Reagent delivery with soil mixing has proven extremely effective in reaching treatment targets, which has allowed us to develop a high level of confidence in this approach.

In-situ Bioremediation Services

ISOTEC offers in-situ bioremediation services utilizing a wide variety of commercially available bio ammendments, as well as custom mixes specifically designed for effective remediation of your site. Our experience spans over the last 2 decades and ensures that the best injection specialists in the industry are performing the remediation.

Laboratory Services

ISOTEC maintains a `state-of-the-art` research and development (R&D) laboratory with the capability to perform custom treatability studies. Our laboratory is a EPA-registered facility and maintains the necessary regulatory agency notifications needed in compliance with RCRA for treatability testing laboratories. Our laboratory is staffed with a full time research scientist with over 15 years experience running treatability studies. To date, we have performed over 500 bench scale treatability studies. We also specialize in designing and performing custom bench scale studies based on site-specific needs.

MFR - Modified Fenton`s Reagent for In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO)

ISOTEC's modified Fenton's reagent (MFR) is based on the fundamental principles of Fenton's chemistry. H.J.H. Fenton first demonstrated the use of Fenton's chemistry in 1894 by oxidation of tartaric acid using a soluble iron catalyzed decomposition of dilute hydrogen peroxide under acidic conditions. ISOTEC's modified Fenton's reagent was developed with the fundamental goal of enhancing in-situ treatment of soil and groundwater contamination using Fenton's chemistry while mitigating the negatives associated with application of Fenton's reagent in its conventional form (such as acidic pH, limited catalyst mobility, etc). The process generates powerful free radicals (including: hydroxyl, perhydroxyl, superoxide and hydroperoxyl radical species) when the catalyst reacts with hydrogen peroxide in environmental remediation projects. The MFR process is a safe, low temperature approach to Fenton's chemistry that provides an advanced oxidizing effect in the sub-surface.

GTR - Gas Thermal Remediation

ISOTEC is now part of the GEO team implementing Gas Thermal Remediation (GTR) for In-Situ Thermal Desorption (ISTD), Ex-Situ Thermal Remediation, Thermal Conductive Heating (TCH), and Thermally-Enhanced Vapor Extraction (TEVES) projects in North America. GTR units heat by natural gas or propane allowing the greatest flexibility in thermal remediation while being reasonably priced compared with current thermal remediation alternatives. The systems incorporate vacuum extraction (i.e. soil vapor extraction) to recover contaminants. The technology remediates sites contaminated with BTEXs, chlorinated solvents, PAHs, PCBs, pesticides, and coal tar. The patented technologies, including the GTR and GTR+F systems, allow fully scalable In-Situ Thermal Treatments. All energy is provided by mobile propane tanks, meaning no site electrical upgrades are needed, making installations rapid and affordable. The technology can efficiently treat large projects.

Soil Treatment and Soil Stabilization/solidification

ISOTEC provides in-situ soil stabilization (ISS) expertise and turn-key services that include certified laboratory treatability testing, and mixing systems that include innovative binder delivery and single or dual-axis soil mixing equipment to remediate manufactured gas plants (MGP), heavy metals and LNPL & DNAPL concentration contaminated sites. Dust control and odor control are maintained and fuel efficient equipment is utilized.

In-Situ Chemical Oxidation Laboratory Treatability Studies

ISOTEC will perform total oxidant demand tests on your samples to determine the optimal in-situ chemical oxidation approach for environmental remediation. Tests can be performed using a single or multiple oxidants.

Environmental Remediation Services

ISOTEC's environmental remediation services include in-situ injection of oxidants (ISCO), reductants (ISCR)and bio-enhancement reagents, in-situ and ex-situ mixing using oxidants, reductants and stabilization reagents, and thermal remediation of soils using natural gas or propane as a fuel source.

Activated Persulfate In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO)

ISOTEC's persulfate technology uses sodium persulfate catalyzed by our patented modified Fenton's reagent, alkaline reagents (including sodium hydroxide and lime), hydrogen peroxide or our patented chelated iron complex to produce sulfate free radicals that attack contaminants. Persulfate when used as an in-situ chemical oxidation reagent is particularly effective at treating contaminants from aromatics like benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes; and chlorinated solvents such as perchloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE). ISOTEC uses both injection and soil mixing methods to deliver reagent for environmental remediation.
