INEOS products
Chemicals
INEOS - Acetyls
Acetic acid is one of the most versatile organic chemicals manufactured today with applications in almost every industry. Acetic Anhydride, a powerful acetylating agent that can also be employed to absorb water of reaction and is a solvent for many organic and inorganic products.
INEOS - Aromatics
Aromatics includes Metaxylene, Paraxylene and purified terephthalic acid. Its product applications range from soft drink bottles to packaging trays, from clothing to carpet.
INEOS - Caustic Soda
Caustic soda is a widely used industrial chemical which is used in pulp and paper, detergents, packaging, agriculture, environmental protection, water treatment, foodstuffs, health, textiles and in the chemical, construction and car industries.
INEOS - Chlorine
Chlorine is used to purify drinking water among other things and can be used to produce other chemical products such as hydrochloric acid which is widely used by the pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, electronics and food industries. Chlorine is produced by passing a powerful electric current through a brine solution (salt dissolved in water), a process which also produces hydrogen that can then be used as an environmentally friendly source of fuel.
INEOS - Oxides
Oxides include ethylene oxide and propylene oxide as well as their derivatives. Supplemented by norbornenes, oxo-alcohols and acetate esters. This extensive product portfolio plays an essential role in the day to day life of millions of people. The manufacture of polyesters, antifreeze/coolants and polyesters, paints and coatings, aircraft de-icing, antifreeze and industrial coolants all depend on this chemistry.
INEOS - Oligomer
Oligomers are products that are widely used to make detergents, lubricant additives, drilling fluids and a range of other products.
Polymers
INEOS - Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS)
Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (‘ABS’) is a high volume engineering plastic, favoured for its strength, scratch resistance and attractive finish. ABS is produced from three monomers: acrylonitrile (provides thermal and chemical resistance), butadiene (provides rubber-like ductility and impact resistance) and styrene (provides stiffness, the ability to be easily processed and reduces overall cost). ABS resins typically contain at least 50% styrene, with varying proportions of acrylonitrile and butadiene. There are two main processes that can be used to produce ABS: mass and emulsion.
INEOS - Polyethylene
Polyethylene is the world’s most widely used thermoplastic and is made by the polymerization of ethylene. Polyethylene is often classified by its density, because greater density corresponds with greater material rigidity.
Oil and Gas
INEOS - Oil & Gas
INEOS Oil & Gas UK is a fully integrated exploration and production company. Our focus is primarily on gas production. We make a significant contribution towards securing the UK energy supplies by means of sustainably high domestic production levels. Our focus is the Southern North Sea and West of Shetlands. Health and safety at the workplace take highest priority, as do environmental protection and social responsibility. All the company’s activities are strictly value-oriented and serve to increase earnings through improving operating efficiency.
INEOS - Forties Pipeline System (FPS)
The Forties Pipeline System (FPS) is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system. INEOS FPS has a proud history and an exciting future. This video showcases the scale and importance of the Forties Pipeline System, both for our customers and as a key piece of critical infrastructure for the UK. A few of our fantastic colleagues share their experiences of working at FPS and talk about the investments we are making to ensure we are reliable and sustainable to 2040+.
