Instalmec - Screening System for Dust and Mineral Removal
After a long period of elaboration and several trials performed in its laboratory Instalmec has developed a new screening device capable of an enhanced sifting capacity with respect to traditional screens. This system works very effectively even if the material to be cleaned contains up to 70% of recycled wood. The new dust and mineral cleaner finds its application in the particleboard industry and allows to obtain a fine material with particles having a dimension lower than 0,4 mm. Furthermore, this system reduces significantly the mineral content in the wooden material. After being screened by the Pneumatic Screen the material contains a mineral percentage varying from 8 to 15%.

Our gluing system is even more effective if the wood fibre is treated after gluing by our special fibre sifter, i.e. Instalmec High Efficiency MDF Cleaner, which contributes to a perfect and homogeneous surface of the panel, keeping it free from the common black spots due to glue/resin lumps. The final result is an MDF panel whose surface and mechanical properties are considerably higher than the average MDF panels, and a considerable reduction in the number of discarded boards.

The wooden material is first selected and separated from foreign bodies, and then it is grounded and reduced to "chips" of appropriate size, which are dried by means of a rotating drum dryer. The material is brought into the drum by a stream of hot air, which transfers heat mainly by convection. At the drum outlet an accurately dimensioned settling chamber allows the separation of the “coarse” fraction of the dried material.

Wood fiber is first produced by a defibrizer, then it is dried by a hot air stream which conveys it to the following stage. It is glued, and then enters the system dedicated to the production of the "mattress"; such “mattress” will go through a press which will bring it to the required thickness.

The "green" material in form of logs is selected so as to eliminate any log having inappropriate size or shape. Suitable logs are reduced to leaves (strand). By means of mechanical conveying systems that preserve the integrity of the strands the material is injected into a rotating drum.As for the particle board material, here too the heat is transferred to the material mainly by convection. The dried material is collected at the drum outlet and below the cyclones and sent to the gluing system. Next step is the formation of the mattress which takes place thanks to mechanical and fluid dynamic systems, which allow achieving the desired strands orientation in the various levels of the sections of the panel. As in the above mentioned plants, at the end of the cycle the panel is reduced to the required dimension and its surface is sanded.

Here cleaning is characterized by an innovative concept of fluid dynamic. This device avoids the clogging of the net meshes and their mechanical wear maintaining constant the final quality of the product. Moreover, while the performance of traditional screens worsens as the nets get dirty, the pneumatic screen’s performance is constant in time. Instalmec pneumatic screen is able to clean nets thanks to a counter-flow air system and to ensure a high constant performance without any nets clogging. One of the most important advantage is the constant efficiency of the screen through time. The material does not rub on the nets, therefore there is no wear and a periodical maintenance is not required.
