International Desalination Association (IDA) training

Heriot-Watt University Postgraduate Degree

In January 2015, the IDA Desalination Academy and Heriot-Watt University (HWU) formed a collaboration offering a postgraduate program in MSc degree in Water Technology and Desalination.

HWU, which will award the degree, will offer one or more desalination-focused courses per semester. The IDA Desalination Academy develops the content and materials for the desalination courses, which include Membrane Processes; Thermal and Hybrid Processes; Intake, Pre-treatment, Post-treatment and Environmental Issues; and Desalination Economics and Management.

IROC - International Reverse Osmosis Certification

The International Desalination Association (IDA) offers four levels of Reverse Osmosis Specialist Certification in collaboration with DHP, Inc..

Fellowship Programs

The IDA Fellowship Award provides recipients with an unprecedented opportunity to spend time with a host agency – a high-profile public utility or well-respected research organization – working alongside colleagues in the desalination industry, gaining insights into the host agency’s operations, strategies and policies, and ultimately exchanging ideas with the global desalination community following this Attachment (Program). Through this process, the IDA Fellow becomes a conduit for knowledge transfer when he or she shares their learning with their own organization, as well as with other fellow professionals through IDA’s publications or presentations at major IDA events.

Mentor Program

The purpose of this program is to connect an industry leader with an emerging industry professional through a mentoring relationship that can lead to a transfer of knowledge and broadening of networks between the two. The program is based upon encouragement, constructive comments, openness, mutual trust, respect and a willingness to learn and share information. While it will initially be aimed at IDA’s Young Leaders Program (YLP) members, it may be broadened in scope at a future date. You must be an IDA/IDA YLP member to participate in this program.
