The six part Certified Erosion, Sediment and Storm Water Inspector (CESSWI) series will take place every Wednesday from April 9 – May 14, 2008. Taught by Jimmy Eanes, CPESC-IT, CESSWI, the series will address regulations, safety, documentation, & BMPs. In order to properly design a stream, you must understand and measure geomorphic parameters within the project reach, have a thorough understanding of the watershed and must verify that the designed stream will transport sediment without significant aggredation or downcutting of the existing channel bed. This course is a must, if you want to: •learn the indicators of stream instability, •know what data to collect and how to analyze it, •and develop construction details and specifications.

Learn enough basic theory on wind erosion to understand how to select practical methods for controlling airborne soil particles generated from both wind (saltation) and mechanical (road traffic) sources. WEPS will be used to demonstrate the relative effectiveness of alternative control methods and to illustrate the relative risk of soil loss in different climates. Bring your laptop computer and work along with the instructors.
