There are different types of the classic erosion control blanket made of straw in the iGGmat straw product series. They all have a layer of 100 % straw and are stitched either on one or both sides with a backing made of PP-netting or jute fabric, as well as a PP- or jute-fiber. All iGGmat straw products can also be supplied as seeded blankets. In this case a carrying paper with seeds is stitched to the straw layer. iGGmat straw is used on areas at risk of erosion with up to 10° slope (1:5.7) for temporary erosion control. The lifetime of the iGGmat straw is up to 12 months. It depends on the conditions of the location, the soil, water and climatic conditions as well as the risk of erosion on-site. iGGmat straw products are up to 100 % biodegradable.

They all have a fiber layer of straw and coir and are stitched either on one or both sides with a backing made of PP-netting or jute fabric, as well as a PP- or jute-fiber. All iGGmat strawcoir products can also be supplied as seeded blankets. In this case a carrying paper with seeds is stitched to the fiber cover. iGGmat strawcoir is used on areas at risk of erosion with up to 20° slope (1:2.7) for temporary erosion control. The lifetime of the iGGmat strawcoir is up to 24 months. It depends on the conditions of the location, the soil, water and climatic conditions as well as the risk of erosion on-site. iGGmat strawcoir products are up to 100 % biodegradable.

They all have a fiber layer of coir and are stitched either on one or both sides with a backing made of PP-netting or jute fabric, as well as a PP- or jute-fiber. All iGGmat coir products can also be supplied as seeded blankets. In this case a carrying paper with seeds is stitched to the fiber cover. iGGmat coir is used on areas at risk of erosion with up to 40° slope (1:1.2) for temporary erosion control. The lifetime of the iGGmat coir is up to 36 months. It depends on the conditions of the location, the soil, water and climatic conditions as well as the risk of erosion on-site. iGGmat coir products are up to 100 % biodegradable.

iGGtecx JG 500 woven jute geotextile is used to secure erosion-prone slopes, plains, or other areas with low inclination (slopes with up to 10° incline). It is ideally suited whenever the risk of erosion is considered to be low due to the ground slope and the soil condition or the topgraphic location.

Erosion control fabrics from the product group iGGtecx KGW, woven coir geotextiles, oftentimes are a more suitable alternative to iGGmat erosion control blankets, especially for construction projects on exposed areas at risk from erosion, as well as on shorelines of still waters and streams. A huge advantage is the long lifetime of three to five years due to the high lignin content of the coir fibers. Furthermore it is used if the desired vegetation needs more than one vegetation period to be established. The individual woven fibers slow the water speed of rainfall or of water streams and thus protect the soil surface and young plants. The denser the mesh, and thus denser the woven coir that is used on the soil surface, the greater is the protective effect. We recommend wooden pins or U-shaped fixing pins from the iGGfix product group for fastening iGGtecx KGW.
