Material to be processed in the fixed hammer mill goes directly to the bottomgrate. Uncrushable feed materials first of all create a heavy impact to the anvil and then they are heavily pushed against the grate. A grate, which in a way has a release arrangement (in many cases), but on the contrary and because the grate is solid and often very heavy, the release goes slowly. During the time when the break pins brake and the grate has the chance to drop, the uncrushable item will be conveyed to the top part of the machine where there is no escape way and consequently the unlimited compaction forces will destroy the machine’s top shell or bend the rotor shaft which one is the weakest. The principle of rotation direction against a solid and firm anvil also may result in counter forces, which try to lift or crack the rotor bearings´ housings.

The two-roll coarse crusher XLC from SID is one of the most powerful (up to 630 kW) and reliable on the market with a capacity from 10 tons / hour up to 240 tons / hour. The coarse crusher is very insensitive to unbreakable objects, which makes it very reliable. All the wearable parts in the coarse crusher can easily be replaced separately and the worn parts are also weldable.

Single-rolled coarse crushers XLC MR are simpler in their construction and are best suited when a lighter machine with a lower capacity is needed. These machines crush materials from 4 tons / hour up to 50 tons / hour. Unbreakable material is automatically captured and the integrated reject hatch makes it easy to remove objects and reduces downtime. XLC MR is equipped with a powerful rotor shaft and several of the worn parts are weldable.

The FH series comes in a number of different sizes ranging from 700mm in width to over 2 metres.
The most commonly used crushers are the FH1500 and 1800. They come both on tracks, mobile (on wheels) and in static configuration. You can also get them in top fed configuration, enabling less feeding equipment in narrow surroundings. Materials mostly associated with the FlexHammer™ Mill is recycled wood and other wooden materials. It is however important to remember that the FlexHammer™ Mill is good at a number of other materials as well (see “what can it crush?”).
